Why do people assume that all atheists oppose Creationism being taught in US schools?

I'm an atheist and I fully endorse US schools teaching nothing BUT creationism, because I think that such a curriculum would provide our children with the educational advantage needed to acquire solid, well-paying jobs in the future--particularly in the fields of medicine, healthcare and science-- which in turn is beneficial to our economy as a whole. When we consider the future educational and job prospects for our kids, not to mention the social and economic advantages for our country overall, it just makes sense. So why do I always get a bunch of thumbs down when point this out? I thought atheists were supposed to be rational. Thanks in advance.

Because people assume atheists are intelligent. Your question is obviously satiric. :)
