	What law related jobs can I get at 14 in NJ? Here in New Jersey, we are able to get working papers at age 14. Many companies won't hire people until 16 or 18, but there are a handful that do hire at 14. I've already applied for two jobs at the mall, but those would just be something I'd do for now. In the future, I'd like to have a career either in law or politics. I'm very interested in law and government, but, as far as I know, I can't get a political job until I'm old enough to vote. Am I stuck having to do a job that I'll never go anywhere with until I'm 16 or 18, or is there some sort of job I can get now? It is perfectly legal for you to work in an office at 14, that does not mean anyone will hire you but they could..... there are a number of jobs that you could do in a law office, the problem is most law offices business hours don't work well with the hours and days someone 14 or 15 can work.... Click on the following link for information about child labor laws such as the number of hours allowed, when you can work, what jobs you can do, and which states require a work permit for minors: http://www.youthrules.dol.gov US Department of Labor YouthRules in general a minor 14 or older may be gainfully employed (work in a business location) such as an: Office, Grocery store, Retail store, Restaurant, Movie Theater, Baseball Park, Amusement park, or Gasoline service station (NOT in the garage area) BUT due to the high unemployment rate at this time it is difficult for minors to get a job.........the jobs that use to be held by teens and retirees are now being taken by adults trying to support their families.........however it does look like things are getting MUCH BETTER for minors looking for work...... Fast-food and grocery stores are willing and able to train new employees but... Minors tend to have many issues that affect their ability to work such as tardiness, absenteeism, and numerous schedule requests, poor work-ethic etcetera. I am NOT implying you will have those issues but the fact that many your age do makes it more difficult for you to get an opportunity to prove your worth. Most businesses are individually owned and operated so it is the owner’s policy and past experience with minors that will determine if they will hire you. Apply everywhere you can, the worse that can happen is they don't hire you. Businesses such as Publix, Kroger's, Food Lion, Sonic, Chic-Fill-A, McDonald's, Winn-Dixie, Krystal's, Dairy Queen, and Burger King along with smaller local businesses that are in the same genre tend to hire those your age. Remember just because they legally can hire you does NOT mean they have to hire you or they will hire you. If you want a decent career in those areas you're probably gonna need to go to college. You can work your way up in politics and law to an extent, but you're gonna struggle to make the big time without a degree. Try and get mall work if you need money now, but you should probably put effort into school cause it will pay off in the long run. Plus, if you ran a law firm would you be hiring 14 year olds? 	How do I get a job with Dodgy work history and no experience? Basically- no degree, although I have tried completing one in the past and stopped because of physical and mental health issues which were overwhelming to deal with along with going to classes full time. I'm not stupid and I am quite articulate. I am 23 and have only worked for about two years retail in high school and stopped working to go to university. I worked a few months in 2010 retail after I dropped out but it was only a seasonal position, and the only reason why I have not been able to constantly work is because of mental health issues. I had also tried going back to community college during my free time since i left university in 2008/9 and I had panic attacks while in community college, which made my anxiety worse from then on. Well recently I met a good doctor and he prescribed me some meds that are stabilizing my moods and I feel the best I've felt in years, and I'm ready to work. Thing is, I don't know how to get a job now since I've spent literally years being depressed and anxious doing nothing. I don't really have anything to put on my resume, and I never finished my AA degree either. All I've done is cashiering and although I do the job well and I get promoted easily when I do these jobs because I'm a hard worker and I try to go above and beyond what they ask of me,which is the attitude I have no matter what kind of work I'm doing as long as I'm getting paid. 	Why honesty, hard work and dedication have no place at work? Recently I have overlooked for a project at work and I am unable to accept it why? 	What to wear to a job interview VS a career fair? So I have a nice white button up shirt, business skirt and pants, and a suit jacket. I'm applying for a software development job and I'm very short and can look young so I'm trying to look adult, yet professional. I'm also attractive so I'm trying not to look too sexy. For the career fair I'm thinking of wearing just my nice shirt and a skirt with low heels.
