What is your favourite and least favourite technology company(ies) and why?

My favourite tech companies are ASUS and Samsung Electronics. ASUS make exceptional hardware and service a wide variety of PC aspects. They also make the hugely popular Nexus 7 (I happen to own one). Samsung Electronics make almost everything that has electricity going through it seems. They are very popular as an OEM and other companies often turn to them for parts. My least favourite companies are Foxconn and Apple. Foxconn are pretty much slave drivers, they threaten their workers (who work for as little as possible (pence)). They abuse their workers to the point of suicide. They have long contracts and they also mesh their buildings to stop people jumping out and committing suicide. I choose Apple because they are very popular to the general public, but most of the general public don't know what goes on behind the scenes at Apple. For example- Apple use Foxconn to build the iPhones Pads and Pods, I've seen Human Rights Activists brandishing their iPhones. Apple claim they "invent" stuff, when really what they have done is taken technology that already exists- put an "I" in front of it, and add a shiny logo to it. People praise apple for being "genius" and "inventive" when really, they are just being herded by Apple into believing this. Have you ever heard of Kane Kramer? He had the original sketch to the iPod: http://www.wired.com/images_blogs/gadgetlab/IXI.jpg. His patent ran out and he couldn't afford to have it renewed so any company could have used this design- but it's not inventing. Apple lock down users with propriety software and hardware- just so the user buys other Apple technology for the convenience of not having to have 2 cables for everything. Whereas other phone micro-usb adapters work with any phone or tablet. They make sure everything that is used on Apple devices is "Apple Approved"- surely that means security right? Wrong, it just means Apple can legally charge a royalty for having that service on their platform. And that's my opinion, whats yours? Please no flame-wars. _______________________________________________________ Yep- I'm going to get hated on for putting Apple up there, but if you don't read what I put then your just backing up my philosophy.

Everything from their search engine, to their new google glasses are amazing. I think that every company should strive to be like Google... More
