What salary should I ask for if a recruiter actively sought me out?
I am a Quality Assurance Engineer making $55120 (no secret clearance) and have been at this position 7 months. A recruiter at another company invited me to apply to a position that requires secret clearance. The title of the other position is Quality Assurance Engineering Asc. What should I list as my desired pay?

If you are doing a paper application put the term "neg" which means negotiable. If you can write words, it depends if you want the job or not. If you want the job the salary requirement is $56K + benefits. If you don't care about moving positions, it's $65K

if it were me, and i am an engineer, i would go either with a 10 percent increase OR i would say it depended somewhat on the benefits package. When i was earning 40 K, i had benefits worth over 20 K per year. so i was getting 60 K a year from the company.

Force them to make you an offer first. If it's higher than your expectations, then perfect! If it's lower, start negotiating. They will probably ask what you're making now, but but you're free to tell them that your current salary is personal information that you will not share with them.
