How to cope with a white racist and anti-women team?
i work in an organization with mostly white males (90%). i have come across a few good people and the rest of them are pretentious(fake). they make sexually tinted comments, condescending statements about women, gossip all the time and waste a lot of time just BS-ing around. these are white men in their 40's to 60's and they treat women as the lowest grade no matter what a woman's talent/ position/ achievements are. recently i spoke up against sexually inclined comments and they stopped when i am around. but now, i have been made the least important person in the team. despite contributing a lot to the team, the only result is an ego backlash. even the manager justifies that they will talk such BS because they are men! how do you deal with such people? are these kind of men nothing but a BIG bubble of ego? what is the best way to handle these people at the workplace? going to HR is not a great idea as it will eventually get me fired. these people know how to covertly harass me if i go to HR. they are also very good at ganging up and proving that they are right. any other suggestions/comments/ideas? Thanks everyone including darin88, who probably does not understand that i am facing a real issue.

It's easy to say 'ignore it' the reality is that long term exposure to this is bad for the self-esteem and general well-being. In extreme cases you may eventually start to feel very isolated and get to a point where work just feels like a constant battle... More

Gosh these guys seem like complete d*cks. I hate men who degrade women only because they think males are superior to our beautifully feminine race. I bet these guys only complain about women because they are unhappy in their love life experiences with women.

Let me see if I understand. You think your co-workders are fake, sexist, do nothing but sit around BS'ing, are all ego, and are looking for a way to strike back at them. And they don't like working with you??? I am shocked! LOL... More
