Im looking to become a police officer in the future what should I know?

Yes. Im looking to become a police officer in the future. What are some of the things that I should know? What I feel like I need to know is if it costs money to get into police academy (I assume it does, so if it does please tell me around how much) whats the pay, and what are the requirements? Anything that I missed that you feel you should add, please do.
