How can I get a job on boat ? Fishing or Shipping?

I have recently moved to Maine and would like to know haw to get a job in the boat industry . I served in the Navy but not with a good discharge but that was 15 years ago . Im a welder ,crane operator, and build oil tanks but I would like to be on the sea . Merchant marines is out because of age and single requirements . Im 34 and in really good shape used to hard work , and not scared of much . Is there hope ?

I’d say you have an excellent chance to land a job on a ship or boat. There are actually three main ways to go. Fishing: I think you’re a little old. Get an MMD card. Use to be a Z-Card, I still have mine. MMD is Merchant Marine Documents. Get those and you are set.
