doing SAP training from an authorised institute to get the knowledge is worth or not ?

Hi, I have an experience of more then 3 yrs in Sales Marketing. I am interested in doing a SAP course, but since it is very costly around 3.00-3.50 lacs. Someone suggested me to go for SAP training from some Institute that will give me the exposure of the course and then later having experience with some company using SAP, i can go for Certification programme. Could you please suggest if there is any scope for person having SAP knowledge but no Certificate??
