Do I stand a chance of getting into Cornell?
I am applying as a transfer to the school of arts and sciences as an economics major. I am currently a freshman at the University of Texas at Dallas majoring in business administration. Here is some more information about me: Me: -Caucasian Male (I know, I'm out already lol) -born in hawaii -moved to Texas in 8th grade Education: -last semester gpa: 3.5 -current gpa: 4.0 -cumulative: 3.7 -classes; accounting, art history, calculus 1, college algebra, business law, humanities, anatomy/physiology, macroeconomics, microeconomics and business basics. -total credit hours: 40 (28 without ap credits) -high school gpa: 3.3 unweighted, and 3.8 weighted -graduated with distinguished achievement Extracurricular: -Drum Major of High School band two consecutive years -vice president of french club (fluent) -cast as lead role in high school production of thoroughly modern millie -member of political science club Community Involvement: -frequent volunteer with YMCA of Austin (up to 100 hours per year) -feeding and clothing Austin's homeless every three to four weeks for two years -youth leader at 365 church of Austin Skills/work experience: -French -currently a sales associate at Best Buy -work as a waiter and a cashier in previous jobs -proficiency with computers If it helps, I also have some killer rec. Letters from professors and my managers at work. Please let me know if it's even remotely possible that I could get in. I know my grades aren't the world's greatest but they're still pretty good and I have a TON of work, volunteer and leadership experience. Your answers are much appreciated!

We have a daughter currently at Cornell. Amazing school and while like most schools it suffers from a leftist bias in teaching and lack of openness to other thinking, it makes a better attempt at evenness than many schools... More

Transferring is quite hard - might be difficult. Grades are an important component - extracurriculars don't replace grades, they supplement them (e.g., someone with a 4.0 GPA and none of these things looks worse than someone with a 4.0 with all these things... More
