How can I be in my senses and not to be absent minded (and smile alone) without going to counselor?
I am 31 and infatuated (or in love) with a guy who can never be mine. I don't want to go into details regarding this. But problem is that I am so obsessed that I can't think about anything else other than him & its affecting my life and job. I get into deep thinking and become absent minded and often unconsciously smile alone. My colleagues has caught me once smiling alone and I don't want to spoil my impression here. Else people would laugh at me thinking I am mad. Let me share that I had problem of absent mindedness since childhood. This mainly happens in two situations - either I am in too much tension or I am infatuated. In my previous organisation I spoiled my impression due to my absent mindedness. In between I came out of that absent mindedness and was very alert during start of my job. But now day by day I think about one guy and is in impractical love with him and it is causing trouble in my life. Let me tell you why I don't want to go to counselor or psychiatrist - First of all going to counselor/doctor is very expensive which I can't afford. Second thing, I am living in India. Unlike USA, here there is not so good medical facility plus some are counselors for namesake. I tried going to one psychologist, but he kept giving me sessions and charged high fees and I was not at all satisfied with his treatment. I can't keep changing doctors/counselors as it will be very expensive. I WANT TO HELP MYSELF BUT I DON'T KNOW HOW. Please guys, advice me or give me tips on what should I do? I forgot to mention I am a female

Do some conditioning like if you caught yourself thinking abt him you will read a book until you forget him.

Do some conditioning like if you caught yourself thinking abt him you will read a book until you forget him. That way you will divert your attention to something else. Do this in 45 days til it becomes a habit
