If you are a police officer in the UK can you get transferred to America to be a police officer?

I'm just curios, If I get a job as a police officer in the UK after working my way up could I be transferred to America say if I am in a specific task force like international terrorism ect? Just wondered

Yes, you can...if you get US citizenship, and undergo training & licensing.

Nope and vice verso. BUT I have had an officer in my station who had been a PC in Birmingham. He lived in the US for years, was a permanent US resident and got on to my department. He went through the same process as anyone else just starting.

No. You might work on some Joint Terrorism Task Force as a representative from your police department working with US police, but you cannot work for any US police departments unless you have US citizenship.

It is possible, though rare. You would have to have specialized skills and basically be called for. There are International Joint Anti-Terror Task Forces. You would still be a British Officer, just working in America for the period of your association.
