What was your college experience like?

I'm just trying to learn a little more about the whole college experience. I want to become a scientist someday, but I'm lacking faith in any institutions of learning beyond high school. In high school I took tough classes, and learned skills that have helped me a lot. Also, I've been able to get most jobs I want. It feels like there is a major over-emphasis of higher education. All these people with degrees and no jobs. That kind of makes me upset. I have attended college and because I moved had to put it on hold. I now realize that the degree I was pursuing would make me no money. What is the point of offering degrees if people never get to use them to get a job? Are there people who are ok with spending tons of money on degrees that don't repay you in dollar bills? Also, how much is college like a party? Is it pretty much like high school but just more people? What was your college experience like?

However, if you got a college degree you still have a headstart above the rest. You are not going to get to be a scientist without it. Plus I am in college... More
