How to be a good centerback?

ok this is my first year as a centerback and i usually play in the midfield but my team needed me on defense.any tips on how to steal the ball more positioning.i get nervous when ever the ball is coming at me and theres a foward close to me so most of the time i kick the ball far instead of controlling it and looking for a pass.any tips and advice??

It's a big move from any position to Cb, cb is probably the most stressfull position, especially if your new to it. Abdo the answerer before me explained it exactly. In a nutshell get in their way, force them to go where you want them to go, be aggressive , and clear the ball whenever in danger
