How do I decide what to do with my life?

So I left high school with no ambition and no idea what I wanted to do for the rest of my life, I went to college and studied manufacturing engineering purely as a time waster and because my friends were on the course. I completed college with a double grade merit merit in manufacturing engineering and did absolutely nothing for about six months, that's when I decided it was time to start something so I applied to study mechanical engineering at university (I didn't even really want to I just decided to continue what I had already started studying) and I got a job for some experience and a bit of cash before I started uni. Now I find myself in the last semester of my first year on a course that I am not enjoying and find too difficult. I don't know what to do, if I drop out now I'm going to be in the same place I was when I left college and I have no idea where to take this next, no idea what I want to do, but if I stay I'm only going to spend more money that I don't have on a course that I don't like. I'm only 19 years old I know that I am still young enough to turn it around, but how do I start? I'm just looking for some advice, what do you think I should do?, what did you do in my situation?, how do I figure out what I want to do?
