Software Engineering in McMaster or UofT?

I am having a little bit of trouble deciding between what university would be best for me, I know that you can take computer science first year in uoft and then switch into software engineering the next year, but I also know that you have to take Engineering 1 in mcmaster to get into software engineering later, how does the comp sci program in uoft compare to the engineering 1 program in mcmaster? also I live closer to toronto so I would not have to live on res if i went to uoft, but going to mcmaster would require me to move out. I do not really care about the prestige of a school, as long as I can land a job later on I'm fine, I also care about the social life of a school and the school spirit and heard that McMaster has a lot more of that than Uoft does. I also heard that mcmasters programs are challenging, but also relatively easier than UofT's. Overall I dont think i have enough of a respect for UofT's prestige to work my *** off the entire time and not have a social life, but at the same time going to mcmaster would require to pay extra for residence and it is not as prestigious, what do you think would be the better choice?
