Is becoming a flight attendant a good career choice?

I was thinking about applying to some flight attendant jobs. I love traveling and seeing new places. I have some questions though; 1. What is the job really like? Is it very tiring and stressful? Is it exciting? 2. The pay is generally very low for the responsibilities (barely above poverty). Why is the pay so low, and can one really have a comfortable life with this job? 3. How hard is it to actually get a job as a F.A.? I'm only 23, so I don't have that much work experience. I've had some retail jobs, so I do have some experience dealing with the public. I know they look for that. 4. Any tips on doing a resume to stand out for this job? Also, should I apply to the big airlines (AA, United), or should I start with the smaller regionals? Thanks so much for any insights.

Apply to as many airlines as you can think of because none of them hire frequently. For information about getting hired, how to pack and the day to day job, please see my blog
