What kind of jobs a student can undertake while studying abroad (outside India) to meet his financial needs?

I always wonder why back in India it is said that whoever goes abroad for studying ends up in some fast-food outlet doing part-time job to meet his financial requirements. Is there any restriction for foreign students to take up jobs like part-time teaching/ coaching class, setting up stall, modelling, freelance activities, etc. Please provide the list of things that one can do except working in food-outlets (I find it cheap). Thanks.

All countries severely restrict or outright prohibit working by foreign student visa holders. "Setting up stall?" You need a huge capital investment for business license & various permits, resale permits for collecting & remitting sales taxes, obtaining space for a "stall" or store, etc. Teaching?
