Why do career jobs ask you to fill out an application after you sent in your resume and references?

Applied for this news producer job, and they have been teasing me for a month now. First resume was sent in, than interviewed, than they ask for references, then references confirmed form sent to them and sent it back. Now they want me to fill out an application, so beyond being a twisted pretzel of nerves, just wanted to know why they make you jump through so many hoops. And if you think I got the job?

So companies do it as a double check. You would not believe the amount of inconsistencies you would find between an application and a resume! Different employment dates, different job titles, experiences. You start to see things that didn't make sense and get a better judge of the person's character. Now a days it's easy for people to lie on their resume, but as the saying goes, it's easier to remember the truth than what lie you told!

It's simply a piece of paperwork that they are required (by their own policies) to have in your file. They aren't teasing you with it. The fact that they want it shows you're still being considered for the job.

Some companies want to have your info on record in their format, so they have you fill out their application.

Sounds like you're probably real close to getting hired. Good luck.
