 | During college what kind of classes are required for a petroleum engineering career (physics based, chemistry based etc)? And more specifically, what kind of mathematical operations are used in the job (calculus, geometry, trigonometry etc)?
I am a Junior in high school now, taking AP Physics and pre AP Alg II. I'm deciding if petroleum engineering is a good career for me.

 | I'd like to know the following questions:
1. Which Engineering careers/jobs are the HIGHEST in demand as of today?
2. Which Engineering job has the highest salary?
3. Which Engineering job has the lowest salary?
I've narrowed down my interests to the following: Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, and Environmental Engineering. *Which field do you think is the best in terms of salary, employment, and job opportunities? Are there any pros and cons that you can come up with?*

 | I recently graduated with a Civil Engineering degree and was looking to join the Military to gain experience in the field. I understand the Navy has the Seabees while the Army has Corps of Engineers and the Airforce also has Civil Engineering careers but im unsure of which one will be the best for me to transition the experience they give me to the civilian world. I am reluctant on being in combat and having to expose myself to searching for IEDs which i know certain engineering positions in the army have you do. That being said which branch will give me the experience i am looking for and do i need to go on active duty to full fill these jobs or can i get a full time job in the military being in the reserves? The recruiter i spoke to suggested i enlist as an E4 then after Basic training ask to go to OCS because it would be less competitive do to the fact i am already in the army, should i listen to him or attempt to join as an Officer? In addition if i do listen to the Recruiter and after basic training ask to go to OCS can they refuse me or is it of their best interest to have me become an Officer? Also what are some Pros/Cons of each branch regarding deployment time, standard of living, moving up in rank etc... Thank you all for you input and opinions i look forward to hearing from you

 | I am about to graduate from a civil engineering course (Bachelor's degree) from Melbourne University. I have already worked in the engineering consulting industry while studying so I do have some experience (2.5 years) in regards to my training. Would it be a terrible mistake to look at overseas opportunities as a graduate? I am finding it really difficult to find work at the moment in engineering as most companies have reduced their intake for graduates in Australia. I have a lot of friends who have not been able to find any work after they have graduated.. Most of them now are working in banks or doing retail/marketing jobs. More international people are taking over the engineering jobs in Australia (more profit for companies) and putting actual Australian citizens at risk. This is terribly upsetting considering how hard studying engineering is and how I might need to leave my home country if I can't secure a job.
Thinking about all this, I thought maybe I should go overseas to work as an engineer. I would be in a new environment with different challenges. Currently looking at opportunities available in the EU due to variety of the working conditions offered there. But I don't know if it is a wise move in regards to starting an engineering career on graduate level. Do most employers prefer to have graduates who have done some experience in their own field in their own country before going overseas?
Would be keen to know what people think as I don't know if I am doing a terrible mistake. Thanks lots!

 | Hi, I am considering a career switch to the investment industry from an engineering career. I am considering of taking up the CFA program to equip myself with the technical skills required for this industry and at the same time, to enable me to step foot into this industry.
But before I decide whether to enroll in the CFA program, I would like to find out if this industry is really suitable for me.(I do not have any friends working there).
Is there anyone who is working in the investment industry who is willing to share with me his experiences and how the work there is like? Especially people who are in same situation as me (who made a career switch) ?
Also, I'm quite interested in research and analysis of stocks and equities, and I'm strong in numerical aptitude. What kinds of jobs are there available in the investment industry that will allow me to utilize this strength?
Thank you for your replies in advance!

 | I have a friend who doesn't know what he's going to pursue in college. I just wanna help with some options!
He has great computer skills, is a decent writer (and loves it), is good with electronics and somewhat in planning (sorta). He likes the thought of being some sort of Engineer (he prefers to stay away from math-based engineer careers) or a Journalist. He has become somewhat of a grammar nazi recently. So he has talents. Anyone have any other suggestions for my friend?

 | I am afraid that I will not deal with much science when I get a job. Will some chemical engineers please tell me how much science they are involved in (not necessarily only research). I don't want a job that deals with too many "businessy" things.
Basically I am afraid that I will not be learning much after I graduate. I have been learning all my life and I don't want to stop that. Is the Chemical Engineering career one that involves continual learning?

 | I am about to graduate with my Bachelor's in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance. Does anyone have any suggestions or information on good places to start at a career. I have done tons of searches; however, all I have been about to find are health and engineering careers available to recent graduates.
I really want to try to get a job at a company where I can gain some great experience to help me advance in the future.
Any help or info would be greatly appreciated!
