Job search tips? I'm not looking for anything in particular so I'm thinking Monster type services are out.

I want to leave the social service type of work I am currently doing and gain some accounting/finance experience. I hold a degree in economics. I would like to work for the IRS as a tax agent. I know eventually I need to take some accounting classes but right now I do not want to go back to school. Anyway, I'm starting to get discouraged. Any pointers?

Right now you need to focus on exactly what type of job you're looking for so that you can tailor your resume (that you used for another job) for this new job. A Social Service resume's job goal won't work for the IRS. And add the new, completed courses if they add to your knowledge and experience. Use action words in you resume to show that you actually work: for example, I designed, completed, organized, etc. Also, what works well is to show how you get along with other people--loners don't fit in. Look into how you can punch up your resume and interviewing skills.
Knowledge is power, so you need to go to http://www.jobs.irs.gov/home.html to find out if you have what it takes to be an IRS man! Good luck!!

I am interested in a contract therapy job but they require me to carry liability insurance and file my own taxes. Have you ever had to do this? Is it a complete pain in the butt or is it worth it to do them since the job pays very well? Where do I find personal liability insurance and how much would it cost? And how do I pay my own taxes? Should I get a CPA? How much does that cost? I live in Florida. Oh and I already have another job but this is just for extra money so not worried about them not paying benefits.

Aside from his regular job, my hubby started helping our neighbors keeping the lawn, trimming the trees, and all that landscaping stuff. He wants to start his landscaping business by next year. We live in Miami, Fl. How do we claim in our taxes that money he gets paid "on the side". The customers give him personal checks and sometimes cash but we don't want to do illegal stuff. He just started a week ago but it's going really well and we're going to the accountant tomorrow, but I'll love to hear some answers today please. Thanks!
