Job search tips for recent engineering graduate?

I just graduated with a computer engineering degree about two months ago and i'm looking for some ideas from people who may have been in a similar situation. I barely made it out alive(2.8 major gpa) and that gpa prevented me from getting good internship opportunities so my experience is limited. I've tried the job search sites but I feel like my resume's are just a drop of water in the ocean and is probably never even looked at. I'm willing to consider any ideas and I just want to get some helpful tips so that i can get started a.s.a.p. Thanks

My fiance is the director of the career services department at a university and does a lot of research on getting graduates jobs. She told me that only about 25?f available jobs are posted on the internet job search sites. They are not a really good option for getting a job.

I was in a similar situation as you when I graduated with a CE degree; however, I did have internships. The best way, IMO, to get job interviews is through networking. I don't know if there are any computer engineering societies in your area, but if there are you should start attending those functions and introducing yourself to people. My last semester in school I participated in a student design competition that culminated at a national engineering symposium. By being at that symposium and talking to a ton of different people I landed 5 interviews and eventually 5 job offers (all in different part of the country). IMO networking with professionals in your chosen field is, hands down, the best way to go. You could also go to as many of the companies in your area as you can, who hire comp engineers, and drop off resumes.

The most important thing is be persistant, don't give up, and get your resume to as many employers as possible...if you throw enough sh!* at the wall some of it is going to stick.

Good Luck!

I would love to relocate to the Seattle area but I can't unless I have a job there with a small amount of relocation assistance (really just an advance on my first paycheck would cover it.) I have applied at most major companies but haven't had any bites. What tips do you have for finding companies in that area (aside from monster, careerbuilder, etc.) that are hiring and willing to offer some small amount of relocation assistance? I'm a mechanical engineer graduating (BSME) in 3 weeks and really need a job.

I have been searching through the job descriptions of engineers, but I am unable to find out who designs weapons. I know Aerospace engineers design rockets, jets etc. but who designs the tanks and guns etc.?

I graduated with a bachelor's degree 5 years ago and haven't worked in the field yet. I've been working as a music teacher and in my own recording studio. All the electrical engineering job positions ask for 2-5 years experience in specific areas and with specialized skills. I've searched Monster and some of the other popular web sites for listings but so far I haven't had any luck. Thanks for your help, John
