There's no one "straightforward way" to search for and find a job; you'll have to use several routes at once. This means applying to jobs posted to many different job search sites and job boards. http://www.jobvirtue.com is just one example of hundreds (if not thousands) of such websites. Do keyword searches for positions you're interested in, read the job description carefully, make sure you have the proper skills and experience (remember to highlight them in your resume and cover letter), and apply. Some postings may ask you to fill out a form, call, or fax your resume instead of emailing--be sure to follow these instructions to the letter. Be sure also to check out job boards for your specific industry; they'll be more specialized than the general job websites that list every kind of job imaginable.
