Do you need to give a resume for jobs at McDonald's or Steak n Shake?

I always thought that a resume would be more for an actual job, but do you need one for jobs like these or can you just fill out the application? Do you need a resume at all with jobs that have applications?
Please try to answer all my questions, your help is really appreciated.

Im not really answering your question but I believe this is a good question. I am assuming you have to give your resume everywhere. But the best thing would be to go on yahoo, type in mcdonalds, the zip code you live in, ask to talk to a manager and then ask and get your answer immediately

It never hurts to drop a resume off so they see you face to face, but places like these usually have online applications that you can fill out. Personally i would take my resume in, it shows that you're excited about the job and you show interest in there company.
