Resume - Job Questions & Answers

When you have a behind desk job in a firm, you can write about it on your next resume for job hunting. But let's say I have been a model for several years and wanted to apply for a white collar job. My years of experiences as a model can be described as " on the job training " or " PR- like work". What is the best description I can use to write on my resume in applying for a business job. A short and brief phrase.

Everyone is asking for resumes and job experience, but I have no resume to give. I was thinking about working for Blockbuster, Subway, or Chipotle, but apparently you need prior experience to make burritos, sandwiches, stock shelf’s, and work a cash register. How the heck is anyone supposed to get a job anywhere?

For school we have to pick a book and choose a character to make a resume and job for. For Glinda I thought maybe a fashion designer but in the book it doesn't say anything about Glinda being able to sow. Elphaba, not quite sure either. Thanks so much if you can help me :)

I've had one job continuously for over ten years, and still have it. A few months ago, I took a three-month temp job that has ended. Which should I list first on my resume -- the job that I started most recently (the temp job) or the job that I currently have, which stretches back over a decade? Thanks.

I was laid off from my job in early 09 and returned to a position 3 steps down on my resume in April of this year. Unfortunately in my time away the work-flow's basically collapsed, and I'm going to have to resume my job search. What's the most presentable way to deal with this work history situation on my resume? I'm mainly trying to avoid simply duplicating the earlier entry, or messing up the chronology.

I've been applying to jobs and they obviously do a background check on employees that they hire. I have worked 2 jobs and did not put them on my resume. 1 job i worked at for a 1 month and realized it wasnt for me. and the other was 2 weeks and I had family issues and had to leave. I did not give notice to these jobs before leaving. These jobs were not big coorporations. What will show up on the background check?

I was wondering if being a member of Mensa would help with resumes and job applications or if it would be discounted as just a club. I qualify to join, but don't feel the need to pay the membership fees unless I can find some tangible benefit outside of the group's social aspect. Thanks!

I have tried to attach my resume for job postings and when I email it the other party sees something ridiculous in another language. I am not sure what language it is but it is not English. However if I go into my Sent file and look at it, it looks fine. Am I missing something or do I have a virus. I have also tried to copy and paste and this doesn't work either. Help please.

I was google searching my relatively uncommon name, and found two people who live relatively close, relatively similar ages, and relatively similar career interests. In the photography, video, animation fields. I was surprised how similar these people were to myself. Can I pull info from their online resumes, job history etc, to embellish my own? Assume my employer actually does follow up on and check in, they call the places, say, 'hey did ___ ____ work for you / how was he?' Seems like a free pass for a loaded resume. What could go wrong?

I worked 8 months on this one job, I was the best employee there. I got in some conflict and was fired for harrasing an employee. So on my resume/job applications which option should I put? 1. Put this job on resume? 2. During those 8 months I was also doing college full time. So if employer asks me about the 8 month gap I can just tell him I was full time student. So which option would you suggest, Cause if they call my previous employer and ask why I was fired then I would defiantly not get any job.

I've thought of co-branding my spouse and myself as a Team, standing on a street corner with a sign - mom with 3 kids needs job, sending photos of the kids with resume to kid focused companies using their products, just hitting as many companies as possible with my resume - carrying job search business cards and handing those out wherever I go to anybody who would be willing to assist me in networking.....your ideas??? I know I'm getting a bit off the wall here - but I'm just brainstorming and need to pick the best ideas.....I need a job fast - quite desperate in fact.

I worked a department store job for 3 months before I was terminated. The reasons behind it could very well affect my chances of getting hired in the future. I recently applied for THREE different positions for a similar company and all three of my applications were immediately rejected. I can't help but wonder if it had to do with my resume and the little amount of time I worked on my previous job. What is the best way to say I got fired on my resume or on a job interview? Would it be best to just omit the information all together? Oh, and btw, my previous job agreed to keep the reasons behind my termination confidential, so there is no way my future employers could find out.
