Does high salary means more hard work than low salary jobs?

High salary mean I have to work so much, and it is so difficult than low salary?

Low salary job means I don't have to work that much?

It depends on how you define work. Many people who make a lot of money don't consider what they do as work.

In high salary there is not so much physical work, mostly you can supervise others, but there is a lot more responsibility and you could be worrying about the job even when you are on holiday or at the weekend.

Not true.

You often find that the lower the salary the harder you have to work and the more laborious the work is. For example, a banker can earn 100K doing 9-5 5 days a week and it's mostly desk based with a good health care package and 4 weeks paid vacation time. But a cop will earn 30-40K doing longer hours, including nights, and will get shot at, spat on and barfed over, and they'll get 10 days paid vacation and have a life expectancy of 5-10 years less than the banker because of work place stress and injury.

Like I know hourly jobs pay by the hour, but how do salary jobs pay?
6 answers - Asked By: Nadia - 1/3/2011
Recently, I've been looking at a management job at my employer. I currently have a "grunt labor" position that pays only about 1-2 thousand more a year since overtime has been wiped out. The position means I won't work outside all year in the elements, the company provides management with a cell phone, so I won't have to use mine anymore, and there are some people above me that will be ready for retirement in a year or so. I've never had a salary job before, and wonder those of you who do, can let me know what the benifits of it would be compared to an hourly scale. My wife worries about the horrors of working 50+ hours a week and being uncompensated for it, but I've never really seen the person who was in the job last work more than 45/ week. I think personally that I need to think of moving up in the company and establishing a carrer instead of "just another job". What do you think?

What is the average starting salary for jobs in the US? I need sources! I am referring to the average of all jobs, not a specific job.
