Computer Programming - Best jobs for work experience?

I want to get into computer programming but am financially a few years away from starting a degree. I need a basic bottom-rung job where I can work in a computer programming environment. Any suggestions?

Ive got good office experience already

Any job you can get would be good for experience, but remember that getting a programming job nearly always requires some programming experience. I would suggest that rather than wait until you start school, you pick a language (or two or three) and begin studying on your own. There are lots of available books for all languages, and there are tons of free resources on the web to get you started.

Then, start writing code, because that's the best way to learn.

Other Career Questions

Hi, I have completed a course on php mysql recently and want to start applying for a job. I have a previous experience of 3 years on flex and xslt. I had to take a break for almost 2 years due to some personal reasons. I want to start over as a php developer. I have uploaded my resume on some job portals but the calls I am getting are for experienced php developer jobs. How do I specify in my resume that I am applying as a fresher for php but have a previous experience in other technologies? Any advice would be really helpful. Thanks in advance.

I am doing a web re-design for a local brewery and know that good pictures can make or break a really nice site. One of my good friends is a teacher, but has a great eye for photography and I want to hire her on to the project. What should I charge the brewery for her services? Note that this will be her first real professional experience, (Besides side jobs at weddings, etc) The website re-design project is around $3000.
