I'm applying for a job and they, apparently, need a resume. It's been awhile and I've forgotten what the format is.

Well I passed phase I (the resume and such) and have gone onto phase II (the fingerprint and background check). This is just for the position of a clerk--basically giving me 7 months more time to find a job in my field (communications) while gaining experience (which I need). I have nothing to hide--not even a traffic or parking ticket. I was just wondering: how quickly can I expect this process to go? It took about 2 weeks from the resume to be submitted to be emailed, and I know the government doesn't really work quickly. Basically, I go in for the testing on October 22nd. Exciting, no? Should I expect to hear back from them by November? If not (or even then), should I go ahead and get a sales job somewhere for a few weeks? Basically my date to hear back about potential employment is set for OCtober 13 becuase I have to resort to something like Target. I've never held a job before--scary for someone who is 23. I went through college volunteering, and after graduating I became a mom and have stayed at home for the past year doing just that. Would it be okay to work for a business for only a few weeks to a month?

Hi all, I currently work as an accounting assistant for a university. I worked retail back 2003 - 2006 and I really liked it. Once I was hired on full time at the university, I quit my part time job. 8 years later, I have a Certificate in Business Management, an Associates in Accounting, and several years experience in the Accounting field. Problem is... I'm bored! I'm so tired of doing the same thing every day. Plus, there's nowhere else for me to move up to without a Bachelor's degree. I've always wanted to be a Store Manager for a retail store like Kohl's, Gordmans, etc. I love how everyday is different, and I've always been told that I have great customer services skills. How do begin to break into the retail field again? I would love to start as an Assistant Manager and eventually work my way up to Store Manager. Right now, my resume shows my progression from Medical Records Clerk to Secretary, then Accounting Assistant 1 and promotion to Department Accounting Assistant II. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks!
