 | How hard is it for someone in Des Moines, IA to find a job doing criminal justice research in the Denver, Co area? I'm still working on my masters degree and only have experience doing research at my work study job in college. My bf has a good accounts payable job now - how hard would it be for him to find a job in the accounting field in Colorado? Will employers throw our resumes out because we are applying from a different state?

 | I have tried the agency thing twice and both times came out feeling used and mislead. They say one thing and do another. I do not want to use an agency again. Whats the key to getting a great Admin/Acounts Payable job with out an agency. I am fully qualified for these kinds of positions, plenty of experience, easy to get along with, strong work ethic and punctual to a T. So why is it so hard to find something?

 | I recently lost my job, like most others, and want to change my course a little bit. My previous job was with a mutual fund company in the shareholder services department. I realized that i really liked working with numbers and money. So I have been looking into the accounts payable/receivable field but I have no clue if there is any kind of training or classes, or certification required to accomplish this.
Any help would be appreciated!!

 | I'm planning to become a CPA. Currently, I'm in college (1.5yrs left) and work part-time as an accounts payable. Recently I was asked to come work at a CPA firm as an assistant in financial planning. The pay and hours are really good compared to my current job.
However, I'm not sure if learning the new things in the financial planning position will stress me out. It's all very new to me. Even though I'm not a brainiac, I am a very hard worker. But is that enough? I just don't want this job to take away too much time away from school. I'll be taking very difficult accounting courses.
I was wondering if I should stay at my current job OR take the new job and learn new things. Will this work experience look better on my resume? If i dont take this job, then will there be lots of other opportunities like this after I graduate? Will this get my foot in the door of the CPA world even though I won't be doing any accounting work?
EVERY bit of suggestions would be greatly appreciated

 | I am getting a degree in Latin American and Caribbean Studies and political science, with a minor in economics. I am halfway through a 100 page honors thesis on a part of the Chilean welfare system, and I speak Spanish almost fluently. I currently have a job in accounts payable for the university, and I am planning to do an internship in Washington next year.
But all of this experience is random and I need to find a job. Does anyone have advice on how to find a career job with real but very career non-specific qualifications? I do not want to go to grad school yet.

 | When searching for a new job, how do you accurately list your position when your employer has given you the wrong title? For example: If your employer has given you the title of Accounts Payable Clerk, and you do the job of a CFO. What do you put on your resume?
Recruiters and hiring managers look directly at your past position titles to determine if you are qualified for a job, without regard to seeing your description.
For resume sake (not interviewing, because I know you can explain that situation in the interview) whats the best way to handle it?

 | I graduated 2006 with a Bachelor in Economics. I had two jobs; the first one is Accounts Payable and the current one is Accounts Receivable. I was wondering what other occupation(s) I can obtain besides these two (the pay is rather low). Or should I try to obtain a Master's Degree? Thanks in advance and much appreciation.

 | I have a bachelor's degree in an unrelated subject but want to work as an accounts payable clerk. I was going to school to get my associates in accounting but that may cost too much money that I don't have. I just want to be a bookkeeper or work in accounts payable. I have alittle experience with quickbooks. Is it possible to get a job? I know that the economy is soo bad right now too.
