I might be starting a basic income tax preparer course soon at either H&R Block or Jackson Hewitt. I then hope to get a job working at either of these locations. However, I know that this is only a seasonal job and only a few get to stay for the entire year. I want to know what other jobs would I be able to get with my skills as being an income tax preparer after the season is over? Thanks!!!

Is there any way to become a Tax Preparer and Bookkeeper for free with online training? I was Googling and found a site called Universal Accounting but I think it costs to much. I have been out of work for so long that I don't have any money. I thought that there was a way to learn tax preparation and bookkeeping totally free and all online. Could someone please tell me where to look and not the IRS website tried that as well. I trying to get a job for the tax season with H&R Block and finding a job as an Accounting Clerk or something in that field.

I am sixty. I have a B.S. in chemistry and zoology and I am retired and somewhat disabled. I don't think I want to attempt to become an accountant, but I think I would like to try to become a good tax preparer and to go a bit beyond that. I would appreciate any advice and redirection.

The whole talk of tax reform and eliminating a bunch of "loopholes", credits, and deductions to simplify taxes sounds nice, however, do you think that 1.) This will happen and 2.) Tax preparers will lose their jobs in the next few years?

An acquaintance of mine decides to move to upstate New York to look for a job. His current job market is stagnant and he wants a change of scene. This acquaintance is also a wine connoisseur. While in NY State, he checks the Classifieds every day, talks to employment agencies, and networks as much as possible. He also visits the local wineries. After a month or so, he does not find employment and decides to return to his original residence and job market. He has prepared his tax return claiming $2,700 in expenses on Schedule A and has receipts to substantiate them. Would you as the tax preparer sign the Paid Preparer's declaration on his tax return? What reasons do you have for this position?

And I have never done them before myself. I had a tax preparer do my 2006 but when she was finished I couldn't afford to pay her so she filed an extension for me. I don't know what to do because I left my husband last year but we are still married but separated and living in different homes. Our 2 son's ages 24 and 18 years live with me and they both have jobs so they will also have to file. Any suggestions?

I am a returning college student. I am married and I have 2 children. In 2005 I decided to return to school after a life altering car accident. In 2006 I was a full time student and had no job. My wife did not have a job either. My question is: Did we have to fill out out an income tax form? As you can probably tell I did not fill one out for 2006, but I was advised by a tax preparer that it was not necessary. I am here asking now, because I am not sure she was entirely correct.
