Administrative Support Job Questions & Answers

My boss at my summer administrative support job does not have much real work for me but continues to pay me so I can stand by if anything needs to be done. She tells me that I must stand by and not leave my desk unless I ask permission. I can not even go to the restroom without permission. Anyway the pay is fantastic and the office is right next to my home so I can not quit, but I am going crazy with incredible restlessness and boredom. Can you relate or is it just me who suffers like this?

A friend and I were looking for paralegal jobs recently and found a couple in the army. They are listed as "Administrative Support" and "Legal Specialty" jobs. I know these jobs have chances to place you in other countries, but do people in these positions ever get deployed to the field? Do they ever see combat or hostile situations? My friend and I are both girls, if that makes a difference.

I am applying for a job as a receptionist and it asks how much administrative support experience I have. I worked as a receptionist at a hair salon for several years and here I had duties such as answering the phones, greeting customers, handling computers and transactions, and operating the cash register. Does this qualify as administrative support experience? Thanks in advance!

I've seen this vacancy for a retail store, but all it says is it's a selling support role responsible for providing a comprehensive administrative support service to the store in the areas of HR and Store administration, so doesn't say what it would involve exactly. Does anyone know what the duties might include for this kind of job?

I have a Bachelor's degree in anthropology but I'm interested in jumping into the health care field, specifically in an administrative support capacity. I already have several years of work experience dealing with clerical duties and records management, but all the jobs I've come across in health care settings demand that applicants know medical terminology/general health care knowledge. I'm looking at associate degree programs in Health Information Technology, but I don't want to spend another two years (and a lot more money) in school if I already qualify for entry-level jobs. Any advice would be really helpful.

I am not sure what to wear to my next job interview. I applied for a position of Office Administrative Support Assistant. The job title indicates the word offie, therefore I am visualizing an office environment. Nevertheless, the qulifications for this position indicated a more casual environment such as moving furniture, deliveries, some office maintenance. I applied for this job based on the qualifications and I was called for the interview. What is the appropriate style of clothes to wear. I think a suit will be over dressed, but I am not sure. Please advise.

My job is starting to drive me crazy. Its a lot of administrative support and I find a lot of aspects of it terribly boring. Its a small office, and I am the only person running the office for the next two weeks. I keep looking online at job opportunities and career advice and haven't done any work at all for the past three days. What should I do? The work needs to get done!

I will have my MBA in 5 months. I have been researching and finding that jobs in the market that I want to work in want you to have a specialization in communications..Like producer for radio or tv, communications for magazine editor, or image editor. Do I need to go back to get an undergrade to get the specializions? Do anyone know of any certification I can get without truly going back to get another BS? Do anyone know of a company that will hire a recent MBA graduate into the communications field where I can learn as I work. Unfortunately, I'm finding that most companies want someone with experience. I'm so-called overqualified for entry-level and not experienced enough for upper level. In my region I have applied for jobs as secretary, receptionist, accounts payable and administrative support positions just to get my feet in the door at advertising companies, radio / TV broadcastings, and newspaper distributions. All suggestions are welcome.

I have worked many jobs as a temp in the area of administrative support. How boring! They never seem to have anything for me to do and I have to spend all my effort making work to fill the day. I spend so much effort trying to look busy that I am so tired at the end of the day. Being bored is so exusting. Dont you think?
