I'm looking for either a job close to my home, or I could work from home on a salary doing data entry or word processing, etc. I have over 20 years of office experience in many fields such as healthcare, finance, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, benefits and real estate. Any advice from anyone who works from home, how did you get started? I would be willing to take classes in medical transcription, etc if they are worth it. I need to earn at least $38,000 a year... thanks!

I just need some ideas because I would like to work in all areas that take creativity and imagination. I have also had 15 years of cashiering but due to surgeries I can no longer stand on my feet for that job. Thanks in advance for your ideas.

I am 41 years old and was working with a reputed company in a responsible position, until I was forced to quit my job due to some professional and personal reasons. I have been doing odd jobs, including data entry / work-from-home jobs for the past 2 years, as I couldn't take up a full-time job due to some domestic constraints (nursing an ailing parent). I have been trying to get a full-time job for the past 6 months or so, but due to my long career gap (I quit in mid-2011) + inadequate qualifications for the chosen field (though I am a post-graduate with 14 years experience in all). I am willing to take up any general job, like in Admin, or something related to writing, as I am good at writing (including correspondence, and MS-Office suite). Despite approaching Placement Agencies as well, I am not able to get a job, partly due to the career gap, and the age factor (I notice many ads mentioning upto 30-35 yrs etc.). Seek advise from experienced recruiters and knowledgeable people how I can land a job asap. P.S. : Have tried some walk-ins at some BPOs too, but my voice wasn't found suitable for the Voice Process. Though I am willing to work in Back Office roles, where I can contribute through my skills and experience, am unable to get any leads in this sector (BPO / KPO) either.

I want to be a lawyer when I get older, and if not a lawyer, something in that category. I've worked at a grocery store and Brusters, but that's it. My dad knows several lawyers, and he's offered to get me a clerical job at a law firm. What would this job be like? What would I do, what would it require? Would I be at minimum wage? What would I be required to wear?

***I would really like someone who has experiences with resume or knows a lot about resumes to help me. I really need to get back out there after being a stay-at-home mother and a college student for some time now. Can someone give me some input on my resume? I am not sure I am doing this correct. I’ve read numerous resume how-to books, but it can be really intimidating to put your work history on paper. I read that I should put my education first, if it’s my strongest selling point, so that’s what I did, hopefully that’s right. And is it okay to add unpaid work experiences, such as family run business? Most of my jobs are similar how do I group them up so that it doesn’t take up so much space, because they basically are the same. I've been using the computer my whole life, and taken several courses over the years. But right now, I'm only 17, and they've only been high school classes. Would those count? I know I can type and use Microsoft Office very well, but I know they probably want objective proof of that.
