Hospital Admissions Director Job Questions & Answers

Sort by:
I just started college in September. I am going to school to get my Associate's Degree in Health Services Administration. I was just wondering what jobs I could get with it. Where would be the best place to get a job: hospital, doctor's office, etc.? Where would offer more security? Which would offer better benefits and pay?

I know that a nurse can be a director/department head, so if you compare a head nurse with an hospital administrator (one for example admission administrator/director/manager) who would get the better salary? Originally my major is college was pre nursing, but I decided I didn't want to do that because I didn't think nurses got compensated enough for the work they do. I changed my major so that I could go into health care administration instead because I did always want to be behind the scene planning directing implementing etc... I just graduated in December and would be happy being either a nurse or administrator, but since I no longer majored in nursing I am starting to feel as if it would have been more beneficial to become a nurse and then work my way up to an administrative role. My current degree is interdisciplinary studies-health studies and psychology, but I also have a business emphasis/specialization (because of my intent of becoming an administrator), and a bioethics, humanities, and society specialization. I really don’t know where to start (besides the bottom because of my lack experience), what area to go into. I do know that I want to work in the hospital.

My stepfather who is very dear to me is extremely sick. He has a portal vein thrombosis which is very rare considering there is no family history and he is only in his mid 40's. He has been in the hospital since Christmas and is in a medically induced coma. They are finding new problems daily and the bills just keep stacking up. He is the EMS director of AVFD&EMS and people all over the place keep asking how they can help. Well my parents are not going to be able to cover the bills and me at the age of 18 definitely can't do the job. I want to put on a benefit to raise money but I am not sure what the steps are in getting it together. Is there paperwork that needs to be filled out or something if do put it on locally? I need to know as much as possible. Please help me! Anything will help and prayers are greatly appreciated as well

I'm majoring in management concentrating in accounting. I'm interested in going further and maybe becoming a CPA. My mom says I should do something in the medical field since it is always in high demand. I'm planning on going for a second bachelors in nursing after I complete my degree. I know to be a CPA, you have to sit for an exam and you also have to sit for an exam to be a nurse. How should I plan my studies?

I need a major that will lead me to an in demand job that can not be shipped over seas. What I like: almost everything What I don't like hospitals, blood, bacteria, innards of any sort, cubicals, florescent lights, and accountants Please don't advise bullshit majors like art history, communications, or philosophy unless you can show that there will be a demand for them in the future. I am slightly above average high school senior- definitely no rocket scientist. Help?

My daughter wants to become an Occupational Therapy Assistant. She is currently in High School and taking the non-college prep courses. Currently her GPA is a 2.8 and she routinely gets low C's in math and science. Is this going to hinder either her ability get admitted to an OTA program, or her ability to succeed once she is admitted?
