Careers such as medical records clerk, medical billing/coding, registered health information technician/administrator..they suppose to pay really good and be in high demand but from what I have researched the pay ranges from 10-16 per hour. Is this what people are considering "good money" or do these types of jobs pay more?

I took medical terminology, medical insurance billing, and electronic reocriding and filing in a vocational school. I did not take coding class. I was told I can start work as a medical records clerk in a doctor's office, but might need to volunteer to get my foot in the door. What about billing? Do I need to take coding to work as a records clerk, or just as a biller? Do I need to be certified to work as a records clerk or as a biller? Is volunteering the only way to get a job in medical records?

My husband and I live in the Great North West (or as I like to call it, the "Gray North Wet" and we hate it here because it is so expensive to live here (thank you Microsoft). My husband is currently getting his training to become a certified medical assistant. So we are trying to find out where in the country there would be the most job opportunities. I like the Omaha, NE area because unemployment is at 4.5 there, but the snow... lol. Any and all suggestions are really appreciated!

Recently a friend of mine quit her job and started a new one pending the background check only to be terminated because something came back on it. Since that time the item has been removed, it was not hers. But she lost her job because of this. The system is not infallible, my friend had a false report.

I am interviewing for a job this week as a clerk at a local assembly plant. The supervisor is someone I know, this I how I heard about it. I am trying to find out more information before the interview. All I know is that it has to do with tracking or recording the trucks that come into the plant. The company it would be for is a supply chain management company. Curious if anyone knows what these positions do and also what the uniform/attire and work culture is like. Are you usually on the dock? Or is it more inside an office tracking trucks? I know I am supposed to join the union. Thanks in advance!
