 | I was wondering how much does a medical office manager make?

 | A very strong applicant came into the office for an interview yesterday. She is applying for an Office Manager job. It is a highly visible position that will be interacting with a wide variety of employees, managers, vendors, clients and consultants. It is a large medical consulting company with hundreds of employees, this is the corporate office.
Anyway, her resume was quite impressive and she spoke quite well and had the background we were looking for. My only concern was all her very visible tattoos on her arms and neck.
Should that be an issue?

 | I want to become either a medical sonographer or a medical office manager. To some real life people who have done those jobs, how much did you make starting out and what were your hours like?

 | I've contacted several medical offices and walk in clinics, but they say they do not accept volunteers. How do I gain experience if I can't volunteer? I have a four year degree and 8 years of management experience in a business capacity.
That's a really good idea, but how do I get a foot in the door without ever using their computer/file system?

 | My sister has worked in a Medical Office for over a year before as a secretary and really enjoyed the job. However, she moved and since has had kids. She really liked the job she had there and wants to pursue a job like that again. She is planning to re-enroll in school but she wants to know what degree program would give her the best advantage of getting this type of position. Thanks!

 | Here's the job ad==>"The Office Manager is responsible for all invoicing and overseeing billing/financial aspects of the firm"
I'm really interested in the job because it works with immigration.
I have done invoicing before, but my background experience is in the medical field with no managerial experience.
I'm very dependable and reliable.
Any other advice, i really want this job.

 | Office manager plays favorites, does not enforce office policies, no repurcussions for not doing job/neglect of performance, office policies change on the whim of the office manager, unprofessional behaviour and language (foul) are allowed. This is a medical office setting - we are losing patients and the doctors have their heads in the sand and believe the lying office manager.

 | That you are currently taking night classes for a degree?
I have a job interview, I am very interested in this job. I am currently taking night classes to obtain a degree in nursing. The job is with a Medical office. Will it be convenient to inform them of my classes, or should I keep to myself about it? Please advice on the best way to go about it. Thanks!
The job is 9-5, and my classes start at 6PM. Since my major is related to the job, will it benefit me by telling them about the classes?

 | What can I do, How can I get the employers to respond to my cover letter/resume? I have reviewed my cover letter and resume for grammar, wording, and I didn't see any major problem with it. I believe they are well written and formatted well.
I also only have a few personal connections; I've just told a few friends that I'm currently searching for a new job, but this didn't seem helpful enough. I participated on a virtual job fair online, I only applied for a few jobs and most of the companies are not even interesting enough and they don't have a lot of openings relevant to the position I'm aiming for -Administrative Asst./Office Clerical. I also tried going to a job fair at a college yesterday, and I experienced the same thing. Some employers were not even there although they were on the list, and most of them were not interesting enough to me. There were only a few companies there. It's hard to get a job at hospitals too, especially for this position because most of the openings are specialized e.g. nurse, physical therapy asst. and clerical jobs are very few.
I've been interested in continuing my education too to get another degree most likely in a different field, because I'm getting tired and frustrated with this kind of situation when I don't receive at least several responses.
I only got one interview since last week but I didn't get the job medical front desk position; I sent a thank you letter too but that didn't work. The manager's concern was my lack of medical office experience. I've been applying actively for about three weeks now
What other things can you suggest? Do you think it's time to really think about continuing my education in a different field? or Just keep looking and applying...even if I go back to school I still need a job to pay bills and rent.

 | I have 20 years of experience in the Marine Corps as personnel administration office manager, but I don't know ADP, Quick Books, or other civilian pay roll. I do know HRIS Management in specialized software systems.
My specialty is in office systems and efficiency of operations.
What industries seek this background in its Office Managers and not require payroll or accounting? I have an Assoc. in Business Admin. I just don't care for the accounting side of Admin.
