 | If you work in medical office, how did you get your start? I'm working on my associates degree in Medical Office Admin., but first I'm going to get a certificate in Medical Billing and Coding. I'm more than a year away from getting the certificate and more than 2 1/2 years from getting the degree (I'm going part-time). I would like to start working in an office before then, but haven't had any luck finding a job. Will I probably have to wait until I finish my education?

 | I have applied for a job in a medical office of a secretary, I was wondering if there is any site that lets you practice the general computer tasks, skill of taking calls, tackling the callers, appointments and the paperwork which is managed by a secretary in an office.
Thanks for your help.

 | I'm a premed student who is interested in working for a doctor's office and trying to gain clinical assistance while helping out the doctors as well. The only problem is that I don't have any prior experience working in a medical office, just hospital volunteer experience and babysitting. Recently I've been cold calling doctors offices, emailing and faxing resumes and leaving messages on their answering machines for the past week or so, but was wondering if their was anything I could do to increase my chances. Any advice?

 | I am currently taking a certificate program online in medical secretary but my instructor told me in order to be more marketable I should consider getting the associate degree. I just want to land an entry level position in a medical office to gain experience then go from there. If anyone worked as a medical secretary or any front office position in a medical facility, how did you get started in the profession and if you went to school before earning the position what did you earn? Do you think it is a waste of time to earn a degree in medical secretary?

 | I have a legal background as a receptionist, I want to work in a medical office and eventually become an Ophthalmic Tech. much later. But, I have no medical experience. Classes are usually in the day, I can't not work, day classes usually give intern after completion. What's the best way to try to get my foot in the door? What's the best cover letter to send that will get their attention?

 | There are many jobs in a hospital setting, doctors' office, or nursing home that would bring a person into contact with patients. I just was unsure if having worked as a medical secretary with patient contact would count enough to make a good impression on a nursing school application.
Can anyone offer advice?
Generally speaking, what are the previous job backgrounds that really make a good impression on a nursing school application?

 | Trying to figure out what the most in demand office type jobs are now in 2013. I worked for a mortgage company for about 10 years and we all lost our jobs when the company closed. I need to look in to a new area of employment.
What is more in demand, basic receptionist/secretary for any company, being an administrative assistant, getting into the medical field either as a medical secretary, medical records or billing and coding.
I have years of clerical and office skills I am hoping to apply that to get a new career. I have heard the medical field is stable. After being in the mortgage field I don't want to do that again, so many people lost their jobs.
Any suggestions

 | I'm thinking of re-training, and would like to know more about becoming a medical secretary.
Is there a specific course or qualification required - I've googled this and can see that Medical Terminology is one, are there any others? I already have pretty good administration skills.... but would these be enough?
Also what are the rates of pay like, and is there room for progression and development?
Any info or advice would be gratefully received, thanks you guys!
