Records Management Clerk Job Questions & Answers

I was wondering what other jobs I could apply skills acquired through library work (at a library assistant level). I have been doing this work for a number of years now (including front line customer service). I know that the skills would be transferable to records management roles, and filing clerk roles. Anything else? Also, I don't have library qualifications per se.

I was offered a position after a phone interview and a follow up second interview with two corporate managers. I disclosed a misdemeanor charge that may show up on a background check. I was subsequently offered an upper management position and I gave my two weeks notice. Now on the eve of my first day I receive a phone call from HR saying the job is not mine. Some questions about my background check. I disclosed the misdemeanor and was assured by the corporate manager that if the misdemeanor matches the background check. "no problem". Now I sit, unemployed waiting for them. I gave details of the offense and was reassured that they did not have a problem. What can I do legally? This is important to all those out there pondering whether to disclose a transgression. The background check confirmed what I had disclosed and now the reneged on their offer.

Recently a friend of mine quit her job and started a new one pending the background check only to be terminated because something came back on it. Since that time the item has been removed, it was not hers. But she lost her job because of this. The system is not infallible, my friend had a false report.

I am interviewing for a job this week as a clerk at a local assembly plant. The supervisor is someone I know, this I how I heard about it. I am trying to find out more information before the interview. All I know is that it has to do with tracking or recording the trucks that come into the plant. The company it would be for is a supply chain management company. Curious if anyone knows what these positions do and also what the uniform/attire and work culture is like. Are you usually on the dock? Or is it more inside an office tracking trucks? I know I am supposed to join the union. Thanks in advance!

I'm actually renting half of a house from a family. The husband of the family had us sign a typed lease that stated the rules of the studio that I'd be renting. It also stated how much my deposit and rent would be. Recently, my landlord has told me that he is going to be buying another house in a neighboring town closer to his job. He said that will continue to own the house that I live in, but that he will rent out his half of the house through a realty management company. The realty company will find prospective tenants and screen them, and also collect rent. I have been paying my rent in cash directly to the landlord and getting hand-written & signed receipts per the landlord's wishes. The landlord says I would continue to pay rent directly to him. Lately, I'm nervous about what will happen if the landlord is not the real owner, vacates the property and leaves me occupying the house seemingly as a squatter. I do not want to be burned. What should I do, and what are my rights?
