What does a hospital unit clerk do?

Also, is this a position you would have to have training for or is on the job training provided? Just curious, thanks!

secretarial duties such as taking off orders, doing paper work for transfers and admissions, running erands for te doctors and the charged nurse answer phone place call to other dept update the patients board keep supplies constant... More

As the move is on toward electronic records, nursing will be taking on more and more of the unit clerk position- I would look for something else in the hospital such as Admitting/Medical Records/Lab etc... More
