There is a job opportunity through an employment agency to work (perm not temp) as an entry level word processor at an accounting financial firm that interests me for a friend of mine who has experience in the administrative field as a receptionist, data entry clerk and administrative assistant. My friend worked briefly as a finance clerk also. Does she have the skills/experience to work as a word processor. What exactly are the duties of a word processor? Thanks.

I am know that the fine technicians as MS have produced word and that this program is a miracle of technology. What I would like to have is a word processor that actually does the job it is supposed to do and not something that requires me to be an expert in solving problems that I unconsciously create.

I type more than 70 words per minute, I like typing, and I'm very detail oriented. Legal word processor positions pay pretty well so I am interested in doing this. My only problem is that I don't have hands-on law firm experience. Specifically, how can I best get a job doing word processing?

I am trying to fill out applications for work & some of the sites ask for resume to be uploaded. My resume is on my home computer on Microsoft Works Word Processor . The last two times I sent it on an application, it appeared to take it, but I never heard anything back. Would it be better to try to paste? Would one way be better than another? Most of these resumes would be going to large companies who I guess use some sort of program to scan for particular keywords.

I don't want a description or anything. I'm interested in a job in a law firm. I've seen my father keep his job for 26 years and he makes about 55,000 dollars a year or something. He's a word processor. What are the other lower positions?

I can type 60-70 wpm. I can also type 80 wpm with a few errors. (Many of which a standard word processor would correct automatically) So what type of office jobs can I get with this and what kind of pay do they offer? (I am a second year architecture student with numerous courses in business and economics) Any answers would be great. (Except for spam!)

I'm making a cover page for my L.A. class, and I pasted an image on Microsoft words processor. I enlarged it and put the format as tight. I tried putting a text box, but once I type there's like a big white box with letters! I don't want the white box there, I want the background of the text to be the picture, not a blank box! Help?

I also like being independent. Am training for MS certification also. Thanks for any advice. I already know about the online courses and will check those out too. Just want to know specifically where to start.

There is an elderly lady in my neighborhood who would like me to help her to type her life story on a computer word processor. How much should I charge her? By the hour or by the page? Thanks for any thoughts on this. Lin I'm sorry I wasn't specific enough. I'm really looking for an actual US dollar rate - whether by the hour or by the page. I just have no idea what to charge her. Thanks. Lin

My laptop is of A52F series (Asus). I use mouse for speedy actions. For professional job I've to use the keyboard for several hours a day. But when I work, often my palm touches the touch-pad causing the cursor move here and there. Sometimes this even erases my activities, specially while working in the word processors. Unfortunately I don't see the touch-pad icon below the screen. How can I now freeze the touch-pad function?

I plan to semi-retire in about 5 years and leave Utah. Don't care for it here. I know I won't be able to find a "real" job at the age of 62 but I am thinking of becoming a professional temp. I have a college degree in broadcast journalism (which I've never used). I have worked as a receptionist, word processor, data entry keyer and I've done some warehouse work and have worked in a cafeteria. Beyond my college degree I have studied office computers and medical terminology. Besides office work what else could a semi-retiree with a useless BA degree do? Should I take some classes to update my computer skills? Or is that not needed.

I'm trying to write a guide for the new employees at work and I was wondering what program you would recommend to use for this? Basically, I'm going to take photos of all of the different equipment used in the job and then write about how we use it. So I'm looking for a program that makes it easy and neat to incorporate photos into the guide. Would a regular word processor like OpenOffice.org be good enough? Thanks.
