Advertising Account Management Job Questions & Answers

I was interested in the advertising sector, but I don't really know very much about a career path in it. I understand the different job positions like account management, creative etc, but I don't know how those individual divisions are split up, and how you can rise through the ranks... 1) For someone in account management, what are the promotion opportunities? 2) With the promotion opportunities, what are the pay scale rises? 3) How much can you look to be earning in say, 5 years? 4) What kind of job security is there? Thank you.

I have recently moved to NYC from London and currently looking for a job in Digital Advertising Sales. I have over 7 years of ad sales and account management experience, including over 5 years in digital working for Alta Vista and Google. In London, there were a large number of recruitment agencies and consultants specializing in this field, however, I have yet to track down any in NYC. Do they exist? Can you recommend any?
