In my borough schools say all vacancies are advertised on the county council website, but hardly any ever appear. Yet in another borough my friend asked to help out and somehow managed to land a teaching assistants job, even though she has no experience! I work at a nursery so have some experience, but wonder if I should be helping out at a school for free rather than waiting for the perfect assistants role to be advertised?! Also what is a teaching assistants salary, at infant level?

Hi everyone. I am finishing my degree in may next year and would like to get a job as a teaching assistant before i do my teacher training. Does anybody know when schools advertise for TA's for them to start after the 6 week hols (in september?). Is it around easter time? Also, how long is the application and interview process? In other words when would you know if you had the job or not? Thanks, Sam x

They are advertising home-based administrative assistant jobs over here in the UK and I'd just like to make sure it's an existing company so I don't end up unpaid after working for a month. I appreciate every answer. Cheers.

I am interested in applying for a Communications Assistant position for a non-profit company. The job posting asks for a cover letter, resume and writing sample. I have the first two covered, but I'm a bit perplexed about what I should use as a writing sample. I haven't done a lot of substantial writing since college (there's plenty of that, though, as an English major) but I don't see how a literary critique or expose article could be relevant. Any ideas about what they may be looking for?

I have a degree in Business and IT. However I have seen a job advertised for a Accounts Assistant and would like to go in this direction. I haven't got any accounting experience whatsoever! However this job says they will train you. I need to write a personal statement but don't really know what I should include as I have no accounting experience. I know I can write about "transferrable skills" but can someone help me out with the layout? The statement is 300 words maximum.

I have been replying to ads on Craigslist for a few weeks now and got two replies back from the same person. One of the jobs is for a mystery shopper (I have no idea why they would email me because I've only been replying to Admin Assistant jobs) and another one, she didn't make it too clear what the position was. The email about the vague position asks for me to click on a website and submit a credit score to them and if I don't, I will not be hired. She's telling me she would like to interview me on Thursday and show me around the office and show me what my tasks would be. I do not want to pass this up if this is not a fraud because I need money for my child thats due in June. I'm 18 and do not have any credit whatsoever but its identity theft I'm afraid of. As for the other job, she didn't ask for a credit score and said I'd get paid $16/hr being a mystery shopper and to go to a certain website to apply. I have no idea if I should reply to the vague email or not. Does it seem legit? I desperately need a new job. I had one but the manager threatened to shoot me and kill my baby so I quit and its been a month since I've worked last. I worked there for 7 months.
