Copy Supervisor Job Questions & Answers

I was laid off my job last year, given 6 months worth of severance (in monthly checks) and when the last check was sent, I did not cash it because the amount was incorrect (it was for the full month of May, and should have been only for 10 days). I informed payroll, and they say they sent a new check, but I never received it (I was in the middle of a move). After informiing payroll this April, and sending the person their a letter with correct addresses and dates, I have yet to receive another check. Today, I forwarded that letter in an E-mail, copying my old supervisor. I now live in Germany, cannot afford legal advise-what should I do now?

I work for a newspaper with a circulation of 15,000 in tenessee. I have recently been promoted to home delivery supervisor also known as circulation supervisor. I report directly to the circulation director. I feel that maybe I don't make as much money as I should. Does anyone out there work for a newspaper of about the same size? How much is your salary???

I'm 17 and applying to retail stores. Do I just put the letter of recommendation (from my volunteer work supervisor) in with the application and mail it? Also, can I include a letter of recommendation from a teacher at school, or is that not normally done? Thanks Also, there are some places that I've already sent in the application. Is it weird to send in letters too after the applications have already been sent in? How do I do this? Thanks so much!!! 10 pts to best answer

Can anyone explain any situations where a manager can tell an adult person not to speak when a job task or performance is being discussed? I think it's very unprofessional, but I want to know if it can be reported. A lot of these answers imply that the employee is talking over the supervisor or trying to talk to the supervisor while he/she is busy with something. That's not what I mean. I mean being told not to speak when the employee is bringing a concern to the supervisor after a task has been completed or attemped.

I was given a poor job evaluation 2 months ago. My supervisor did not evaluate anyone else. She did it as a retaliatory act because I filed a report with the EEOC due to age discrimination. I have asked my supervisor for my copy but she says it is still at the head office waiting for signatures. How do I handle this?

I have a coworker with whom I share a desk with on another shift and he must have fleas because I found one biting my arm and I am constantly finding bites on my legs. I don't have any pets at home, so I know they are not from me. He has a couple dogs and couple cats. How do I approach this situation? I have a baby at home and don't need to bring fleas home to her. It's to the point where I dread coming to work. I told my supervisor who didn't do anything. What should I do now? I don't want to seem like a baby but I shouldn't have to come to work and get attacked by insects. Any advice is appreciated.

I tried to explain this to my dad, but he couldn't understand the situation. He was a principal for 20 years and never encountered anything like this! This is how it goes: We are 4 foreign teachers at a private school in Korea. We are asked to host an English Camp. We put everything together and at the last minute things get changed by the supervisor. The camp bombs and the kids are not happy. The pictures on the school website shows one teacher looking down, the other one laughing and me sitting down. This however not explained to the viewers. I'm sitting down, because I'm assisting another teacher doing a "restaurant class". The teacher looking down is using the computer to show a scene during a "movie class"! If the kids are happy, the parents are happy and now we look like the idiots that put it all together! The super changed all our plans and the computer teacher took a lot of shitty pics making us look bad! What would you do if you knew that both of them were IN for you as well? The problem I have is that the principal thinks the world of our super and it must be some kind of crush he has on her. So everything she says is kinda seen as truth! What she will do, is say that we planned it and it bombed! And he will believe it because of his infatuation with her! This is a problem that seems to affect many other Korean teachers as well. He is old and will believe everything he hears. He is easily influenced by others and the teachers know it. Some use it to their advantage. But most just accept it, because it's very difficult to get rid of him even if he is senile! I'm truly worried about the kids and their education as well as the parents and their opinion!

Unfortunately and unbeleiveably my boyfriend has been searching for a job since he graduated from college in December of 2004. In May, he was hired at a company, only to be layed off at his 90 day review along with 6 other people. So my questions are 1. Should he put the one job he was layed off from on his resume at all? He does not want to and is not planning on it. I'm just wondering if that is okay. 2. He read that when an employer sees a gap in a resume they automatically dismiss the resume without even asking for an explaination, presumably because they figure the person is hiding something or was fired. So the gap should be explained in a cover letter. Is that true? Should it be brought up in the cover letter? Should he say he was unemployed for that period of time? All help and ideas welcome. Thanks!!! In response to some of your answers He has tried to get a job everywhere! Literally. He is not lazy and he does want to work. He has health insurance through disability for a problem in his leg and his back - although you wouldn't notice it. If he works a certain number of hours he loses his health insurance, which he has to have for his heart condition. Therefore the job must be full time with benefits. He's tried fast food, drug stores, etc. - they took one look at the application, saw his degrees, and politely told him he's overqualified. He's thought of taking his degrees off his resume! The jobs (in his field) his education qualifies him for require a minimum of 3-5 years experience, some require over 10 years. He has tried going out of his field. No one realizes how hard this man has been tring to get a job. He finally got what he thought was his dream job, just to be layed off 3 months later. He never received a letter or anything, they told him in person.

I asked the interviewer if she wanted a copy of the reference which I had brought with me, and she siad that was fine, after a moment's hesitation. It was a reference from voluntary work which I did an office in Glasgow, and the voluntary work was just for one day. In my book about job interviews, I read that giving a written reference during the interview is not ideal for most interviewers, because it only states your basic duties. Does any one have any knowledge of this? Would most interviewers prefer to contact referees? Thanks.
