How many mechanics are needed to take care of a jet fighter or helicopter such as a F-16 or apache helicopter or any other type of military fighter jet or helicopter. By "take care of" i mean maintenance repair and anything else to keep it flying. And also to service the Weapons and weapon systems

I have an interview with Lockheed Martin next week. The position is for a sheetmetal technician. I am currently an Airframe and Powerplant Mechanic. I do have about six months of sheetmetal experience but it has been a long time. I have also been told that there will be a performance test followed by the interview. Has anyone been through this before? Any Info? Thanks

I am a Aircrew Trainee in the USMC. I have not been assigned my platform, but it will probably be a combat Crew Cheif once my training is done. I'm wondering what (good) civilian jobs are available to me once my contract is up in a few years. I'm concerned considering there is no civilian job flying in a helicopter shooting a 50cal. Thanks.

I'm searching for jobs in the aviation industry and I keep seeing job postings for sheet metal mechanics with "heavy airframe" experience. I've been a aircraft sheet metal technician in the military for several years and I'm wondering what qualifies as a heavy airframe. Does that include fighter jets or combat helicopters?

Im curious about this job. What are some civilian jobs you can do with this kind of training? I would love to fabricate custom bicycle frames and parts one day would this carry over well?

A friend of mine has been working in the aircraft industry for a VERY long time now. He has studied and has N1 - N5 qualifications. He would like to further his education so that he may be qualified as an aircraft sheet metal worker or aircraft mechanic. Currently he is already doing a job that requires these qualifications - as he has YEARS of experience behind him. The place where he works has promised that they will help him obtain these qualifications, but has delayed in fulfilling this promise :( We suspect they are delaying this, as they do not want to increase his salary. They told him to obtain a specific book and write down all the experience he has so far. He has done this, but they still are still delaying. Now, we are looking for a way to obtain the qualification without working through the company. Is it possible to obtain the qualification based on the experience you have and by maybe doing a few extra subjects? Any help would be greatly appreciated, as this is relatively urgent thank you in advance

My MM and GT scores show that i am qualified to do a number of jobs in aviation. i do know however that doesn't mean i will get the jobs i would prefer. does anyone have any recommendations as to what i should look in to? i want to work in on or around aircraft, ever since i was a kid. any ideas from anyone who has worked in this field or knows about it would be awesome. i just do not want to be a bulk fuel specialist...lol no offense.

Need opinions from people with experience in the Air Force. I was initially interested in Aircraft Structural Maintenance because I liked the idea of learning mechanics, how to build and construct and learning parts and how things work mechanically, blah blah blah. My reason for this is because I have always had an interest in wanting to learn cars as well. I figure if you can learn a plane you can learn a car..idk, it sticks out to me... Also I was looking into Avionics because ive heard nothing but negative things about Mechanic jobs when you leave and go civilian...Generally looking for a hard working job, but also a job that benefits me once I come out of the Air Force, and I figure even with Avionics I would still be working on planes....any opinions are welcome Also, random question.......Will you still have the opportunity available to go airborn/skydive with any job? ive always had an urge to want to do that but I figure you would maybe have to have a specific job or training to do this.
