Parts Manager Job Questions & Answers

Hi - I am really interested in this case manager job. I went for an interview on Wendsday and they told me they would get back at me in a week or two. Anyways I think the interview went real well just because I have some experience working as a residential counselor in a group home. When they asked questions I felt confident in knowing how to answer it and I really showed my enthusiasm for the work. There are a couple of full time positions and part time they are seeking to fill. They said I was the third person they had interviewed and they had some more people to still interview. They gave me a tour and introduced me to the people who work there by my name and all. Do you always introduce the person who is being interviewed to everyone or should I take it as a good sign?

Hello all I want to begin my automotive career at a car dealership but don't know where to begin. There are a few that have openings for porters. I really want to work in the parts department and eventually become a parts manager.I have some education as I am 2 semesters away from earning an automotive technology certificate another 1 year away from my as degree from my Junior college. I wouldn't mind working as a porter to get my foot in the door but not sure about advancement opportunities. Can you go from porter to parts person? Or is it just a dead end job.

I am about to start a part-time job but there are personal constraints due to my toddler's preschool and husband's work schedules. My toddler is in school from 8:30 AM to 1:30 PM. My husband work from 8 to 5:30 PM. Basically I need to ask my boss to block off scheduling me from 2 to 5 PM. I am able to work in the mornings until 1:30 PM and also work in the evenings from 5:30 to 9:30 PM. My work is in retail so I have no problem working on weekends. How should I word my work schedule request without running the risk of losing my job? Am I asking too much not to be available to work between 2-5 PM, from Mondays to Fridays?

If someone misses a part time job interview then does that mean they can never apply for the same job at the same place? Can they apply for the same job but at a different branch?

I just started a part-time job at a local department store about 3 weeks ago. My husband just got offered a better job opportunity that would mean relocating and so I would have to quit my job. I'm not sure how to go about doing it. I feel awful leaving after a few weeks, when I intended on staying there quite a while. What is the protocal? Should I still give 2 weeks notice while I'm in the probationary period?

I've been working at a part-time job since July. I had a Job interview and now they want me to start next week. Is one week notice okay considering I've only been there 4 months and only work two days per week. ~ No contract was signed. ~ Very laid back position. ~ Only work on Thursday's and Fridays. ~ Another part-timer works Monday- Wednesday. ~There was no probation period and the training period was only 8 hours. *Found my own answer, apparently as I was told by a few -- 1 week notice is all I need to give. Thanks everyone Individual Terminations Normally, the legislation provides for increases in the individual notice of termination period based on the years of service of the employee. For example, the provisions may require one week's notice for an employee who has been employed for three months or more but less than two years; two weeks' notice where employed for two years or more but less than five; four weeks' notice where employed five years or more but less than 10; and eight weeks' notice where employed 10 years or more.

My wife wants to transfer from her job in one city to another city in a different part of the state. Should she talk with her current supervisor/manager first, or talk with the supervisor/manager at the new city? She doesn't want to step on anyone's toes or come off as underhanded or sneaky. She does have a good relationship with her supervisor now. Also, the reason she'd want to transfer is to be closer to extended family, so that's a legit reason, I'd think. Right?

I work in a retail store. FYE (For your entertainment) as a 2nd assistant part-time manager. I do get paid hourly. My hourly wage is 8.35 an hour. Something is telling me I could be doing much better. I have been in this position for 9 months now. I hear most assistant manager average about 35 K a year. I am grossing a bit over 12 K... Is something wrong with this picture? Should I be looking for a new job?

My husband is in the mortgage industry, working for a mortgage broker. He's on commission only and for the last 3 months he hasn't had any closings. Now with the mortgage crisis, I doubt this would pick up anytime soon. He doesn't want to quit doing this, but I am about to kick him out the door if he doesn't start bringing money to the family. My teacher salary is not enough to support us. What is a a decent paying job, part time, that he would be able to apply for and get hired right away (within the next week!). He has been in car sales, has experience as a Parts/Service Manager at a dealer, and now has been working as a loan officer. He doesn't want to return to the car business because of the low comissions in my area and the killer hours. He hated working on a "draw". Please no work at home options. Real JOBS only.
