My second interview is on Monday and I want to be prepared. It's for an assistant controller position. I've already met with the controller and the hr manager. Monday I will be meeting with the president of the company. How could I prepare myself for Monday's interview? Thanks! Any comments would be great!

I am currently sitting in a nowhere position and have a phone interview on Monday. I have a specific range that I am looking for and have relavant experience for this job. However, I am currently in a position that is not paying anywhere close to what I want- I took it as it was close to home for my kids and I had knee surgery and needed time to get to doctor and physical therapy appointments- besides it was a job with benefits. I am looking at a senior accountant/assistant controller position for a large company- I currently sit in a small company as a financial analyst that does nothing more than glorified data entry and administrative crap. If asked about what I am making now vs. what I am looking for I get the what makes you think that you deserve that type of pay in comparison to what you make now? I do have the experience and education plus I have earned that before- but no one looks past that.... How do you handle this? I don't really think that lying will help, I tend to try and by as honest as possible. Literally I have done what they advertised and was compensated for that. As for giving them a range.....It would be a really big range; very unrealistic it would appear that I was asking for quite a bit more and willing to settle for a minimal amount.... As for why I would take this job I'm in, it was portrayed very differently than what has come to be. Since it is a small company, everyone is secretive with what they do for job security purposes. This would include the controller here; thus the reason that I'm wasting my education and playing his assistant. A pay increase was also included with the original offer, but sense cash flow is bad and my boss wants to look good by making his budget, raises are not in the near future for my department- as we are veiwed as pure overhead and really not needed.

I have my second interview next week and I want to be fully prepared. What kind of questions do you think the controller and president of the company will ask? Will it be any different than the first interview? Thank you so much!! =)

I was just fired and worked as an assistant to the controller for a real estate company in Las Vegas. The person that had the job before me had been training me to do the job and was then fired. Before I started with them several of the Finance staff including the Controller had been fired. The company has been in operation for nearly three decades though. I believe the reason I was fired is due to the fact that when I was completing the billing I noticed that our billing fee schedule was not in compliance with the contracts we had with our clients. I let my boss know and after showing her the proof she decided that we needed to change our fee schedule. However, the owner was expecting us to charge higher fees than we were currently. About a couple weeks after discovering this I was fired without a warning and without any discussion or explanation. My manager did say for me to use her as the reference for that job because she knew that I was doing a good job and she reminded me that "everything is pleasing the owners." What is strange is that after my 90 period I received a large raise and the owners told me that they were pleased with my progress.

I am interviewing with a manufacturing company next week. The company manufactures central a/c units. I have about 3 years experience in finance and costing and a Finance Degree from Texas. Personally I do not know that I qualify for the position but they asked to interview me. What can I do in the next week and half to prepare for the questions that they may ask? What kind of questions can I expect? What skills in particular will make me standout and be chosen for this position. Thanks.

We hired a new financial controller in the company. He is a power hunger individual trying to put his nose into everything in the company. However, his honesty, integrity, and motive is questionable. Which department or position can better monitor himr? We are a privately owned company with 10 different branch offices. Our CEO is stationed in another country.

I know that you can get almost any job with a Mathematics degree, and I also that Mathematics graduates have the LOWEST levels of UNEMPLOYMENT, but which jobs can they get exactly? Specific details please? I know that you can be a maths teacher/lecturer, and that's obvious, but I really don't want to go into teaching. I also know that you can have a job in Finance and Accounting, but they are also obvious.

I'm going to college to become an accountant. What would be the easiest six-figure (100k+) accounting job? That would be my target goal. I've taken a college Accounting class in high school. That is why I'm planning on it. I'm actually pretty good with accounting, and I'm planning on working hard for it. But what would you say is the easiest? Probably assistant controller?

I tried a google search and came up empty along with other yahoo answers. I can only stand up for about 2 hours after that my knees start to feel very "pressured" if that's the word to use, ...rather painful after 4 hours to make things easier. (past injury) So does anyone know of any job fields that don't require a lot of walking or standing. Even if they require further studying, I would like to know my options.
