I want to travel and work. I would like to move around to different places in the USA (or abroad if anyone knows about that too) and move possibly after 3-6 months or so. But I do not know how to go about finding short term jobs and housing. Does anyone have any ideas? I am a business/office manager so I think it would be easy for me to fall into jobs.

I know times are hard with business and companies need to expand their products or even locations. This is not the case. I work for a company that is suppose to sell, industrial supplies for manufacturing companies. I am the office manager and my job is suppose to be, take customer orders, invoices, shipping, receiving, payroll answer phones accounts payable and receivable, create, design and manage website and other misc things. I have worked here for 8 years. Now within the last 2 years, My boss started a dance studio, that I create marketing material for, run the website answer the phones it has now expanded into Zumba lessons and tumbling which I manage also. In the last 4 months he started renting out space in the warehouse to solar companies and Satellite tv companies. That's fine, but now I load and unload their trucks, move things around in the warehouse on top of all my other work. Newest job I have now is washing dishes for the catering company he is doing. I am washing plates, cups glasses to get these price tags off. Now he wants me to decorate the room and sew curtains. I have told him I have too much too do, and I can't do this anymore. He laughs and blows it off. Enough is enough, I don't want to loose my job but I don't want to do this anymore. Please some advice.

I have been an office manager for a few years but it's at a lower-tech business: martial arts schools. So I only have to know Microsoft Office Suite. I'm thinking about applying to be an office manager outside this field in a regular business. What computer programs and skills do I need to have under my belt?

I was laid off from my job as an office manager for a construction company. If I open my own clerical service business, would it look better to clients if I had a degree? I've already started my Associates but haven't finished. Thanks for the advice.

I'm presently a bookkeeper and may be offered the Office Manager position at a Law Firm. They think I'll be great at it considering my present skills. I don't do anything with a BALANCE SHEET which is vital to their company operations. What are some good suggestions on topics to research for the job duties? Any articles, websites, etc. that I should check out! I want to make THE SUPREME FIRST IMPRESSION if I get this position! Thanks!

The office i work in is very small. It is myself, the office manager and the company manager. Just the three of us but the managers are having an affair with each other. She is 23 and single, he is 40, married with two young children. When i pop out to the toilet they are kissing and pretending to be "printing" things in our printing room! I know they are doing this because i voice recorded them, yes i know i shouldnt have done it but i thought i was paranoid and now my suspicions have been confirmed. I feel so uncomfortable at work, sometimes i feel sick and am constantly in a mood. What do i do?

I started a business 6 years ago and didnt do much bookkeeping then. I used an inheritance for funding but, according to my new office manager, apparently never made any real profit - just spent the inheritance. I closed in 2006 with no revenue and lots of expenses. I still have expenses related to the business. Now I have a full time employee job and taxes withheld. With good records and real expenses, can my business loss offset my current tax liability if I show no income or losses for the prior 5 years? My inheritance was German and I am a German citizen so taxes were paid there. I have receipts to show massive losses but can keep them in a box and claim only enough receipts to show ZERO income. If I were to be audited, I would have plenty of extra deductions. I paid no taxes and had no income so I wasnt required to file according to the IRS guidelines. The income I have is for 2006 - the same period as the expenses. I made like 35K but lost close to 20K in 2006. Gourmet food company - 7 trucks, licensed and legal. Have records for all expenses - including warehouse. I just thought my 2k per day was profit - instead it was cash flow - not the same thing!!! Business operated 6 days per week and had all required licenses. Used sub-contractors for employees by leasing them the truck for sales. I didnt have enough mark-up between wholesale and retail to pay for warehouse, insurance, utilities, advertising, etc. I used a business bank account and have all the checks and records to assemble. The inheritance monies were wired from Germany to my bank account but show as loans against the German trust - non-taxable according to my records - especially since all money was lost. I still have 3 trucks to dispose of and over a ton of steaks but may have to donate all of them since I work 7 days per week now. I made close to 40k per month gross profit for 3 years...expenses were more than profits for all years. SInce I never ran out of money, I kept it open - no more German money - oops, cant continue to operate!

How can I make her do my taxes? She is impossible to get hold of. Her office manager relays all messages. The CPA is in poor health. What will I do if she can no longer do her job? What can I do to force her to do my back taxes! She has all the paperwork.

I recently received a diploma in dental assisting. I am in a situation where I can only work late evenings and Saturdays. (Not prime hours for a dental practice) Although I am trained in assisting I am more interested in working in the business office or even central sterilization. Does anybody have any suggestions on jobs I could try to get or any creative ideas for a resume that would make me seem valuable to a dentist. I would perform any duty just to get my foot in the door. I'm afraid with my odd hours finding anything will seem nearly impossible. Thank you for any help.

I know it's long and a lot to read, but please, I really need help. I work at an animal hospital for over a year and a half now. For the first year and three months were great, we had an amazing manager, she would defend us and stand up for us. But when we needed it she would confront us. There was a mishap with her and another employee so she resigned as manager and about a month later we got a new manager. At first he was great and we got along great. If i had an issue I would go to him, it seemed like he was going to be a good choice. But in the last four or five weeks, it seems like he did a complete turn-a-round. I had a list of about 10 different things. I found another job and was going to put in my two-weeks notice. I didn't feel right about it because I love my job and the only reason why I wanted to leave was because of our new manager. So I brought my list to our office manager, who is above our new manager. With my list, she either already knew about some of the things, justified some of them, and what she didn't know about she told me that she would talk to him about it. I felt so much better that I didn't turn my notice in and decided to stay. That Saturday, I needed to collect a fecal sample from one of our dogs. It was a crazy dog so I put the container in my pocket and walked the dog. He did his business and I brought him back inside. It wasn't till a few moments later that I realized that I forgot to collect the sample. I hung it back on the door and thought "well he has to go again at lunch or even later after that." I didn't think it would be that big of a deal. I was trying to discuss something with a co-worker when our manager comes around the corner, gets right in my face and starts yelling at me. Saying how he can't defend us when we make mistakes like this, and that it makes us look like "******* idiots" this went on for about 5 minutes. I tried going to get the sample since I remembered where he defecated. As i was leaving he continued to yell at me. The rest of the time he was there he was going after me. I worked by myself on a Saturday night, I did everything I was suppose to do and I left work. On Sunday, my day off, he calls multiple times to find out what time times. I asked him if it was an emergency, he said it wasn't so I told him when I left. He then went after me again. Saying that I left the place a mess, that I didn't do any laundry, and that I need to be a team player. I am always slaving away for this place. When ever someone asks me to do something I do it. I am always doing things for other people. Where our manager doesn't do anything to help us and he has left the place a mess multiple times. So out of the full year and a half of working there, I have never had any issues and it wasn't until we got a new manager that apparently I started having issues. I am getting so discouraged at this place because I don't want him to run me off because I love my job and working with him is making my life almost a living hell. So what do I do? I have already talked to two people above him and it seems like it is just making things worse. Also, he is the type of person that if he thinks you are wrong, he wont let you speak. So unless you interrupt him, to which he will then retaliate more, you wont be able to get a word in. Also I love this job and if it weren't for him I wouldn't be having any problems.
