City Manager Job Questions & Answers

In late August I submitted my letter of resignation, because I wanted to pursue different career options. Originally my last day would have been today. However, last thursday the city manager asked if I wanted to transfer to a different department which better utilized my skills, so I said I would. I submitted my request and interviewed for the position. After my interview I sent another memo stating that should my transfer not be succusful that I would extend my last day until 9/28/07. I just learned that my request has been denied, without being given a reason, plus the job posting for my current postion is being advertised. What does this mean.

I serve on a animal advisory board for the city where I live. The board wants to make improvements to the city animal shelter, and bring awareness to the community about spaying and neutering, and being a responsible pet owner. There's also issues with money, of course, but how do I ask the city manager, where the funds for the shelter, fees collected from shelter, are going? I don't believe that the money is going back into the shelter. Again, how do I professionally demand to know the answers?

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer who used to play for Manchester Utd, is the latest person who is said to be a contender for the managers job at Leicester City. Each day more names are given for people who could be the next Leicester City manager. So many names have been mentioned, and will be mentioned, it wouldn't surprise me if the names of people here aren't soon mentioned either. So will you be said to be in line to be the next manager of Leicester City ?

Http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xcov24pcHgA&feature=related City Manager Paul Nutting and Alderman Ken Cherry would love to turn the USA into the new Nazi Germany. Doesn't it remind you of how black people were treated just six decades ago..... will they have "hispanic only" water fountains next, will they force hispanics to sit on the back of the bus and beat them in public?

We all now that sprawl is an increasing problem in most metropolitan areas around the US. Avoiding or offsetting sprawl should be a collective effort done by different cities and towns regardless of the legal boundaries separating them. What do you think should be a city manager's responsibility on this issue? what can he done to maybe get people to move into the city? small businesses? etc

There are 2 manager jobs (same field, but different cities) and 1 manager assistant job. All of them are entry-level positions, for which I would be qualified. The selection team would be the same for all 3 positions: it's a small company, but one I'm really interested in.

My wife wants to transfer from her job in one city to another city in a different part of the state. Should she talk with her current supervisor/manager first, or talk with the supervisor/manager at the new city? She doesn't want to step on anyone's toes or come off as underhanded or sneaky. She does have a good relationship with her supervisor now. Also, the reason she'd want to transfer is to be closer to extended family, so that's a legit reason, I'd think. Right?

I am applying for a night shift job at a local PetSmart. They are asking me what I think the minimum I should be payed is. I am only 18 and have not had experience at a night job so I don't know how much I should suggest. The work is stocking supplies and all that jazz. I need money to pay my college tuition and I am a night owl so I figured since 3rd shift makes more then normal shifts I'd go for it. Your help is greatly appriciated.
