Thinking about doing this after graduation. I'm currently working on an undergrad in Agri-business but I'm also considering an MBA. A job as a claims adjuster seems desirable and obtainable at the moment, however I'm unaware or the advancement opportunities as well as salary potential. I'd like to eventually make a six figure income as well.

I am a bodily injury claims adjuster for an auto insurance company with 4 1/2 years experience. I've grown tired of the nonsense within our company. I am presently searching for jobs with other companies in all branches of claim handling. However, I'm also thinking about switching fields all together. What other career fields would my experience qualify me for if I decided to change fields? Also, does anyone recommend a good insurance field to enter?

I have been working as a staff insurance claims adjuster for about 3 1/2 years, and am interested in pursuing a career change to a business analyst. I have a BS degree in business administration. I am willing to relocate just about anywhere in the country. Has anyone successfully made this type of career transition? Are there any types of certifications I should obtain to help aid in the transition? Is there another career change that would be a better option? Any advice is greatly appreciated.

I am going to interview for a property claims adjuster next week and I had some questions. I asked the person setting up the interview and they couldn't really tell me much. The pay is hourly and I am trying to find out how much the pay will be. The position is out in the field doing the property inspections and writing the checks there.

I took a job as an health and life insurance agent a few months ago, and I quit after a few weeks because I absolutely hated it. I didn't like doing cold calls and I felt like the company was training me to be a liar. I'm wondering if being a claims agent for an auto insurance company is any better? I have a four-year degree, but I don't have a license for auto insurance or anything. For those who don't want to be an insurance agent, is being a claims adjuster more of the same? Is it hard?

I have been doing the reasearch and getting the picture that it a stressful job with a hectic schedule. What I am wondering is for property adjusters schedules do they come in the morning and mostly telecommunicate from home or from their car or do they work entirely from home communicating via email and cell phone. If most people work outside the office why is this job so stressful. Is there a quota of claims you have to settle? I also read people are laid off I was wondering how many times any of you have been laid off and how long? Also I was wondering how often do you get a raise and what determines if you get a bonus and are claims adjusters really climbing up roofs?

I'd really appreciate some insight from anyone who is currently an insurance claims adjuster or is generally employed in the insurance field. What qualifications/degrees do you have? Do you recommend this career? How is the job market for this field?

So I have a decent job right now, but its not something I plan to do for the rest of my life. Ive already been to college and got a degree in Letters, Arts, and Sciences with a focus in Arts. But ive been thinking that I would enjoy becoming a Claims Adjuster for an insurance company. I read about it online and most places say you dont need any type of degree but classes and a certificate are usually necessary. And the starting annual salary is anywhere from around $50,000 to $60,000. Does anyone have any additional information on this profession?

I graduated with a BA in history almost 2 years now. It seems accounting is the best way to get into fraud investigation; however, I am not willing to back to school for a degree in accounting. So I'm thinking about going into insurance. Casualty and Property Insurance seem to have more obvious entry level jobs such as being a claims adjuster. I'd prefer to go into health insurance (I have some experience with my current job), but am unsure what positionsI should be looking for. If you are a fraud investigator how did you get there?

Looking at the jobs for Allstate auto field claims adjuster it says you must have dependable transportation. I know the Allstate adjusters I used to deal with drove their own vehicles around all day to write damage estimates. Does Allstate pay you for gas and or car maintenance, wear and tear or depreciation? Is the per mile reimbursement adequate? Does it adjust for high spikes in gas prices such as we recently experienced?

I held a position as a claims adjuster for an insurance company, and I was terminated due to the inability to complete the extremely heavy workload I was given, with no overtime. Most, if not all, of the other employees struggled with the same issues and many others were terminated with me. I am now applying for new jobs and trying to figure out how to present this information without making myself look like I can't deliver a good work product. I'm also attempting to avoid bad mouthing my previous employer.
