Early April, I got offered a job at a security firm in California and signed an employment contract, HR manager told me that my background check for a guard card could take anywhere from 2 days to 6 months. I was expecting it to take a little over a week, but it barely cleared on May 10th but I have yet to get called in for training. Can they refuse to give me a position on the basis that my background check took too long?

She works 11pm - 3.30am for minimum wage (£6.19).. She has been working with this company for around 10 months now and she is still on a "casual" contract, a friend (manager at her job from another department) told her she is entitled to back payment of unsociable hours premium. What is she entitled to? And how should she go about claiming it.

I was seen on the camera getting into the car and a few seconds later getting out. One of the contract managers looked inside the car after i was in the car and then claimed that the roll of Tonnie's had vanished. So it looks like I took the roll of change right? But I never took it. As a result I lost my job, even worse i can not collect E.I. How do i prove that i am innocent?

I am an office manager for a small general contracting company. We would like to expand and offer our service some day as a contract manager as well and assist with the process of placing a project out for bid and getting the best prices and subcontractors. What else does a contract manager do on a project and what are the steps I need to take to help my company move in that direction?

Basically, the contracts manager is leaving his job at my company and has never used an external mail client to reach his Yahoo! account. Unfortunately, that means all of his Sent items are stuck on the Yahoo! server with no apparent means to export them efficiently so we have a record of them for future references. Is there a quick means to grab them all without having to forward them all individually?

I am doing contract work for a law firm. There are approximately 60 attorneys on one floor in an open environment (no cubicles). The floor is run by 2 managers. One of the managers gives preferential treatment to two specific contract employees. This manager is 22 years old and fraternizes with these two people while enforcing the policy on everyone else. Numerous complaints have been made to his superiors to no avail. I'm at my wits end with this hypocrisy.

I was the housekeeper for six months, and I did more then housekeeping from dropping off and picking up her kids from school, doing office errands in my own vehicle and own gas. She promised me over and over I was going to get the assistant manager job, then she turned around while all along lying to me and gave it to her daughter. Her daughter had not even worked one day with this company, but I was considered an employee what can I do?

Looking for advice in regards to funding initial projects, leverage and other ways to help gain experience (ETC). Primarily, I am interesting in Long term investments with good rental income. For example House in multiple occupancy. I have always been interested in investing in property from a young age and have always tried to read and research as much as I could in my spare time. I am very ambitious and I would like to think I have a sickening work ethic. Here is a bit of background information on myself, to help with your answers. I’m 20 years old, currently studying Construction Management at university. My old man has had a major influence on me from a young age. He has always pushed the idea of entrepreneurship, and that has shown greatly in my teenage years. He is bricklayer by trade, and has been a contracts manager for major brickies subcontractors in the 90's. He is now a foreman (Brickies) and gets me to work on site every now and again to do a bit of labouring work for him. One of his previous jobs which I worked on with him was transforming a regular house into a HMO with 7 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms with a communal kitchen for his Boss. I learnt a lot in this project. We completely striped out the house and brought the house up to HMO requirements. This included a certain level of soundproofing, insulation, room sizes, ventilation and safety precautions (fire proofing). We also built a loft conversion, side extension and rear extension. All answers would be greatly appeciated 10 PTS = TOP ANSWER

I have heard how they are not well trained and will hire almost anyone. Schedulers rarely have jobs (stable posts) for Officers and do LESS work than Human Resources Personnel meaning they pretend to work but are lazy. Sergeants do the work of Lieutenants and Captains without the pay just the responsibilities. That Human Resources Managers and Low-Level Security Officers are under-trained, Under-Employed, Under-Paid with almost no opportunity fro promotion and rarely get a pay-raise even after passing the probationary period. Also get no over-time pay; they begin early and go home late. They equipment is not in the best conditions. People who make money are from Contract/Facility Managers and up the ladder of management. Is the Service Employment International Union, http://www.seiu.org/ , a group of liars.- http://www.unionfacts.com/ What happens to Security Officers that tell the truth about real working conditions and become Whistle Blowers? Pay raises are almost non-existent.

Well I am searching for something for a friend who has a contract ending with her current job soon. She could renew the contract, but the location is far away from home and it's been a little hard. You know companies like Mitsubishi and Isuzu and Toyota who have cafeterias (hot, homemade food) inside? That's kind of what she does.. she prefers the privacy and safety of being a cook inside of a corporate company rather than somewhere like Olive Garden or wherever. Do any of you know where I could get some leads for jobs like that in Orange County? I tried to search for it on Monsters, but it's hard to describe, and the results come out to places like hotels and other things. She wants to own the cafeteria itself (underneath the company, of course) and be a worker as well as the manager. It's most likely a small business. Her work experience is pretty good, but it's a matter of the environment.. (she is described as a restaurant/cafeteria manager) anything would be help!
