I write a blog about employment in the healthcare industry. I want to write something about making connnections with potential employers. For instance, how would I get the name of a hiring manager if I didn't know anyone at the company? Or, how would I network and find a connection in a potential employer. Any other tips are appreciated. Thanks everyone!

I am a Freshman in college and I am not good enough to play college ball but I am smart enough to coach college ball. I have been about coaching lately and want to change my major. What major would best suit my goals? I obviously don't think that I would just be able to start as a head coach right away, so are there any other jobs that I could do to work my way up the ladder?

How time operates and the use of time. The roles people have and how they relate to them. The audience’s role in the event. The purpose of each event. The outcome of each event. The way the event is evaluated -- how it is determined as to whether or not the event was a success. The conventions (lore, language, habits, etc.) at work in each event. And anything else that strikes you as pertinent. Thank you.

I applied to a hotel a while back and they recently contacted me. I had my interview and I think it went really well. But for the most part the hotel seemed quiet. Not a lot of activity. What would I be doing most of the time? Is this a fun job?

There is a large, annual convention coming up in a few months. It is for people and companies in my industry, so I could make contacts. I mentioned planning the trip at the office (because I will need to spend a few vacation days) and the managers said they do not want me going there, but have offered no consequence. I think they do not want me going there because they are attending and don't want me to meet people, because they are afraid of me leaving the company (in one year they fired more than 33?f employees and nobody got raises). I offered to attend the trip with them at company expense and they refused, so I figure if I have to pay to go myself, then I should go representing myself. It is all fair game and this convention is too big of an opportunity to pass up on account of one job. Bear in mind me taking off 3 days was fine until they found out the reason. Pays to be honest :-\ What do you think the implications can be if I... a.) go anyway if told not to b.) go representing my own interests
