I work in construction and am very worried about this. My job required me to do a lot of hammer drilling into concrete ceilings with dust coming down on me (didn't know the risk). Sometimes holes as big as 1/2" there is no doubt I have breathed some in and this worries me greatly. I've been doing this for a year now and no one has told me until recently the risk. It says online "chronic silicosis occurs after 10 or more years of exposure to low amounts" so does that mean I need at least 10 years of exposure or could I still develop it 10 years from now after my one years worth of exposure? Should I switch occupations? Or is there a chance of getting it down the road still? I'm VERY CONCERNED:( I have had chest pains and am short of breath when I excersise too but that may be psychological I just don't know.

Are there different levels of rank and/or salary to the fire department? I used to know a guy who wasn't necessarily a full pledged firefighter but was emt certified I think (fire responder?). I'm curious to know what they make. Could you be a firefighter even w/o a college degree? Would the pay be less then? I'm just interested in getting into the field. Thanks this question is not only for volunteer but other ranks (ones that do get paid.)

I am getting into a radiology program in the Army. I am sure this will only teach me the basics and I will not earn any kind of medical degree. However once I complete the Army's training, I think I will be some sort of technician? I will be in the Army for 5 years so I have time to take college courses while I am enlisted. What kind of classes should I take that will ultimetly help me become an M.D.? I know I will still have to complete a residency when I get out of the Army. I just want to know the best steps to take while im still in the Army.
